How about an, "A honda can get upto 65" joke? Sorry...

Best bet would be to go to the court date and talk to the prosecutor. Not sure how it works in PA. In Jersey I have always gone to my court date and had the charges dropped to a lesser one with no insurance points. Might pay a little heavier fine but in NJ the points are what matter. A 29 over ticket is going to be pretty hard to get dropped. You might get down to 1-9 over at the most.

But you really should be careful with the speed. I am assuming the 35 mph zone was a residential area? Not saying everyone hasn't done it, but be careful!

Residential is 25 in PA. 35 is considered minor highway, more traffic lights. 45 is highway with less traffic lights, and 50+ is pretty much expressway and the like.

Where exactly did you get the ticket?

I doubt you want "not guilty"... you just want a plea bargain. If you want off clean you'll need a good lawyer, very good. You can probably get it lowered. Chances are you'll get 2 points an 9 over if you do in fact get a plea.

Usually in PA, just for showing up in the courtroom will get points or $$$ dropped. So just show up. If the cop doesn't show at all, you get off. If he does, the judge might still knock it down because you're there.

I think he has to be absent twice. I think this has probably happened a half dozen times in the past 10 years so people pray they'll be next. I doubt the cop would miss a kid doing 30 over and say screw it, I'll let the poor kid go.

A lot of the time when you get a ticket, the cop will talk to you before you go in. They usually try to bargain with you saying that he will drop what he clocked/timed you at so you pay less of a fine. It's really not less because you end up paying the court fees, but you may get away with no points on your license. Just show up and if the cop is not a super d!ck he will bargain with you. Next time slow down....

Or you could NOT be jerkoff and get a lawyer. A prosecutor or judge is much more likely to knock it down if he deals with a professional, not some kid.

Better safe then sorry, a lawyer always pays for itself.

WTF This isn't the OJ trials...it's a speeding ticket. I don't think he needs a lawyer what so ever. He is not going to a court with a grand jury or anything. Just a judge, the person who records everything, and maybe a baliff standing at the door.

It happened on Township Line Rd and Yardley Langhorne Rd in Langhorne, the reason i pleaded not guilty is so that i got a court date so i could at least attempt a plea bargain. Meanwhile it confuses me that when i saw the police officer clock me i looked down at my speedo and it said 57-58 ish. I was like 10 feet from a sign that changed the 35 limit to a 45. Sucks.

Oh and the only reason i was going so fast is that fact that i was delivering like 300 dollars worth of food, and it was super busy at work. Still not an excuse, but whatever, semi validates the speeding.

I don't believe it's twice at all. Only once. And it happens often. The cop "forgets" to go. Usually, if you're nice and respectful when you get it, he might knock some off or just not show. For a ton over, though, you're screwed.

Yeah, well it's a lot safer to pay $100 for a lawyer to have him drop your ticket to a no-points violation than look like an idiot asking for a reduced ticket yourself.

Seriously.

Represent yourself, it seems more innocent, ask to see calibration records for the radar gun, the calibration of these units is expensive to maintain and many municipalities cannot afford to keep up. The few times this has happened to family and friends (I myself have never gotten a ticket, ever) they have done this and gotten off with no points, no $$$. just my two cents.

They time by those white lines in the middle of the road. The only law enforcement agency allowed to use radar is the highway patrol. Like I said if you go, represent yourself, and most likely the cop will approach you before the case is even started and work out a deal with you.

I think you might be believing a lie. No one could count the same consecutively every time, which would account for every car going past you to be at a different speed. It's completely unreliable, and that wouldn't hold up in any sort of court.

Those white lines on the road are used to time cars. Believe it or not.

Cool. I've also seen friends try to fight tickets themselves and watch the points racked up.

I have a completely clean driving record, and it's not like I've never been pulled over. Lawyers do wonderful things, use it if you can, and I'll say it again: Lawyer fees always pay for themselves. Would you rather save $100 now and have the ticket not knocked down by chance and pay $500 more for insurance for the next 3 years? Or just be safe?

And it's not an "exact" time this means they are going this fast. It's more of okay...so between this line and this line it's takes between this many seconds going the proper speed. I have spoken with many local cops and they are restricted from using radar guns.

My fault. I dunno, that still seems inaccurate. I've had my friends radar detector always go off around cops in PA.

Naval base where there is no water? O.o

White lines= Vascar. Biggest bunch of BS on the planet. You know, cops aren't human so they don't hit the button on their stop watch at different times every time.

Pisses me off.

Only State Police can have radar in PA.

Vascar works by dividing distance traveled by the time it took to travel the distance.
Gay.

Pisses me off.

Cops are also required to take a test every 6 months where they look at a car and have to determine it's speed by +-5mph. If they fail, they can't keep doing vascar.

It's more accurate than you'd think, and they only stop ya for 15+ anyway.

Loophole for fighting tickets in PA

it is called 31-11a which states failure to abide by a traffic regulation. if you were caught for speeding, it reduces your speed to 5+, so there aren't any points... if you roll thru a stop sign, it takes off the points...

both ways there is a fine, and it is about $110.00 right now.

It also puts all of the money from the fine into the local district that pulled you over... by default, a half of a ticket goes to the state, and the other half to the district...

so it is beneficial to the cop/judge to give you 31-11a.

dont ask for 31-11a... just fight the ticket and ask the cop, what can you do to take the points off? DONT SAY YOU WEREN"T SPEEDING OR IN VIOLATION, just ask what you can do to get the points off...

works every time...

Well, I understand what you are saying. Any cop with half a brain will know that there is error in it all. But, I know people that have gotten pulled over for +5 over the limit. I'm sorry, but using a certain margin of error in say a 45 mph road, that can not be justified.

But, they are the cops and do whatever the hell they want.

+5 tickets draw no points. No reason to complain.
