I was going to post a pic of the G20t, but it doesn't look like anything special..... until you rev it up on the JUN flywheel..lol

I have not driven the Mirage on the street with the body kit and I would be embarased to drive a car with an unpainted kit....that's weak sauce.....I am saving up for a paint job, until then the Mirage sits and I drive the G20t instead.

A G20t is not turbo...

Philly-Night-SR
05-21-2006, 10:09 AM
na, my G20t look like stock, no g20t's are not turbo, they still have the normal Roller Rocker SR20DE motor, but the T model get vLSD and a touring package. I am sooo tempted to drop in a SR20VE thought which has the NeoVVL, that will be it's next major mod.

I live on Ridge Ave, right by the Sunoco, the apartments next to it....

Yeah i know exactly where that is...i was just at the post office. Where the hell do you find parking for your mirage? I don't remember seeing garages there.

Philly-Night-SR
05-22-2006, 04:05 PM
I would never park the Mirage down here in the city for more than 10 minutes..!!!!....lol It'd get hit/stolen/destroyed in about 15 minutes.....I park it up at my parents house in Quakertown....it's nice and safe up there in the boonies... I have to park the G20t behind my apartment though on West River Rd, which runs parallel to Kelly Drive.... parking it not too bad back there because it's out of sight.... I actually have been thinking about posting on craigs list if someone has an extra garage space they'd rent out locally so that I can bring the Mirage down here..... Know of anywhere?

First off I would like to say, Wow... I really like what you are doing and am going to bombard you with questions. I love Evo's but no way in hell can afford a new one, so ripping up a old mirage is more feasable for me.

Could you explain some of the process and what if any fabrication is needed?
What motor is used? (it sounds like 2001 Evo VI ?) do you need to fab up mounts or do stock mirage ones work with that particular motor?
What kinda of transmission do you have mated up? and if you are using the evo one is this a AWD conversion as well or a welded shut rear axle? If so what did you need to do body wise to fit a rear sub frame + diff?
Umm if there is anything else that should be thrown in please add it as well.

Sorry for all the questions but this information seems hard to come by from those with first hand experience. Too much my friend of a friend of a friend info.:help:
Thanks,
Mike

P.S. More pics too please:prayer:

Mike,

Thanks for the comments! The motor that is in my Mirage is a 4g93 which is a 1.8 liter. It is not the Evolution IV+ 2.0 4g63t. I decided to swap in another 4g93 1.8 motor because it is such a cheap motor to buy. You can find them 2001 or 2002 low mileage for about 200-400 bucks.
Many Mirage people swap in the Evolution IV+ motor. It is a direct drop in, same motor mounts, etc. My friend Adam in MD has a mirage coupe with the Evolution 4g63t motor and he did the AWD conversion, he is currently working the anti-lag system. If you want the AWD you will need to fabricate. You can pretty much swap over all of the Evo IV-VI suspension/brakes, but you will need to use a fuel cell or the actual evo rear floor pan/gas tank since the rear Diff needs room and the rear cross member (subframe) as well. Although I must warn you it is expensive, the Evo IV-VI motors are still very high in price $1,500-3,000 atleast. I think that when I blow this motor I am going to swap in the Evo motor as well and possibly think about the AWD as well, hopefully by the time I’m ready to do that I have the money saved up. If you would want to start a swap project I would be more than willing to help out every step of the way since I know my way around the Mirage asll too well...lol And evo's are my passion... Feel free to PM me or e-mail with more questions: steveg@temple.edu

Good info. Did your friend do the rear floor himself or have a shop do it? Also does he have any pictures of his work? Im curious to see what the difference in the floor is. What shop did he get the motor from too? I know a couple reliable sources but its always good to shop around a little bit. The price on the evo motors doesnt seem to bad, Im used to seeing sr20det prices when I was working on my 240sx. I do appreciate the help and will turn to you for advice if I decide to go this route, only problem is I just bought this miata a couple months ago to build up and I think my friends would hurt me if I jumped to another car already lol. Ive got automotive A.D.D. but I keep drooling over evo's I see on the road.
Once again thanks for the help,
Mike
