My original unit, at ~24" x 6" x 2.5" didn't fit in the car no matter what I did. I cut the back of the bumper out etc, no go.
I recently deleted my AC as you all know and guesstimated that I have about 18" of room side to side and ample room top to bottom. I've also got about 4" deep of clearance in front of the radiator...so I got to thinking that I could put an intercooler up high, right behind the intercooler with the inlet and outlet at the bottom coming up.
Well here she is in all her beauty. It will look sick to have a polished intercooler staring out of the kidney grills. Some people with thinks its the radiator but those with an eye will notice it.

Its 16x13x3" deep... supports 500whp with only 1.5 psi loss @ 15-20 psi... pretty good for...$190
This is going to be fun.
Thats a 17" LCD for reference.

Sick radiator,,,,,,,,,,,, dude.
But really, that looks good. 1.5 psi pressure drop isn't bad at all, neither is 190 bucks! Nice blingy endtanks and purple BOV, heh.

No offense, but its kind of small for a truck turbo, and if it you got it from ebay, chances are it will not cool all that well..

:iagree: I just had to replace my ebay godspeed FMIC due to heat soak even though the IC look nice it wasn't worth a damn

Griffin IC cores are one of those "secret" companies that make awesome cores for a very reasonable price, but if you want the best, try ARC- better then spearco IMHO.

My friend is running 480 ft lb of torque over this guys intercoolers...so... I am really not that concerned.
Just because I am using a truck turbo doesn't mean its going to soak it... I am running 1/3 the boost that a truck would be making.
When was the last time you saw an intercooler on an E34 5 Series
My original intercooler was 29"x6"x3" - would not fit the car. I cut the **** out of the back of the bumper... prob is the bumper bows around teh front facia so the end tanks intercept the bumper even when intercooler mounts real far back. Now I will be mounting this intercooler in the area shaded.

not to sound like a dick, but your going to have alot of the IC covered which just means it not going to be as efficent as it could be

Notice the "BMW" panel covers it some... behind there will be large holes drilled thru - i can put the panel back in to cover it up to make it prettier

i think it'll look sweet behind the grill, and sounds like you did your homework on it and it'll support the power you're looking for. def post pics of the install and post install...
