I need tires for my 18x8.5's, it's for a subaru so these are going to be a tight fit being that they are kinda wide. What size tire should I do, 235/40/18 or 245/40/18. Let me know, any help would be great.

245s. I run 245/4017 on my STi with no rubbing issues.

Sick. These are 18's though Andy, plus my car is dumped and I wanna go lower. lol I guess I need to say that I will be sittin right above the tire, fenders will be rolled before paint, and they are +48 offset.

you should be ok. I run Tanabe GF210 springs, they have one of the most aggressive stances of all the lowering springs

I hope I clear them, I would be pissed if I wasted all that money on rims and tires and they didn't fit lol. I have tien flex's which have really small springs, I should be fine on the inside.

on stock struts the lower spring perch sits above the tire alltogether, so clearance isnt an issue as only the strut housing is aside the tire/wheel which is not thick at all.
on the flexes, although the coil spring is smaller in diameter than the stock setup, the spring perch actually comes down lower and sits aside the tire/wheel... i know with my 225/45s on an 8" wide wheel with +48 offset it was a close fit. i'm going to a 235 tire this year and am confident it will fit. with an 8.5" wheel and 245 i honestly dont know... its too bad the wheels arent offered in a slightly lower offset to give you a bit more inside clearance.

I think 245's will be to much unless your roll the fender or something like that. On stock suspension I rub just a bit with 245's, but only when I cut the wheel at low speeds... I cant imagine a wrx wheel well's being much bigger than an evo's.

Bryan, which wheels did you have that were 8" wide? I dunno, I know kids with these rims and they are fine but they all run 235's, so I guess I will just have to settle for the smaller tire.

well i had rota torques that were 17x8 and that combined with the older flexes 5kg/5kg made for i'd say 1/4" or 1/2" max space between the lower spring perch and the tire/wheel. so i'm not sure how going to an 8.5 will change things.
actually, there's a nifty offset calculator located here: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
and it says that the difference between an 8"/48mm and a 8.5"/48mm is 6mm extra width on the outside and 6mm extra on the inside. so the WHEEL will have 6mm less clearance to the coilover... but the tire is also an issue, and i believe it'll be an extra 6mm or rubber width as well from a 235 to a 245.
so my answer is... i dont know. :)
