So last night i was leaving work in the king of prussia area. I got onto 76 and didn't see any traffic since it was after all 9:30pm. Let me add something here this is after a 11 and a half hour work day. Anyway so i get about 1 mile from the Gulf rd exit i don't know the exact name but it is the exit between kop and 476. Either way traffic comes to a dead stop and is creaping at times at 5mph. As i approach the gulf road exit i get off but up ahead i see a sign caution LEFT LANE CLOSED. Now i know they have to do maintence to the roads but why at 9:30pm. NOw i have been in traffic at 3 am on that road and been just as pissed but i can understand that cause it is the middle of the night but 9:30 come on. Ugghhh 76 has been the road i pretty much have used everyday of my driving life and everyday i hate it more and more. Discuss.... i think.

I feel the same exact way about I-81. I must travel it every single day back and forth to work on the same ****ty 10 mile stretch that they absolutely refuse to repave. It aggravated the hell out of me.

Yeah the ****ty thing is 76 was outdated the day it was finished. 2 lanes for way too many people.

I agree I lost a rim and tire on my last car on I81. Now I use the NE Extension!

Last friday, I left work at 4 in Exton, and tried to get to Car Pretty in Philly--figured it would probably take around 45 minutes. WRONG.

I took 202N to KoP, then got on 76--the ramp onto 76 where the north and south traffic from 202 merge in only has 2 lanes...I felt like slamming my head into the winshield I was so frustrated. I made it to car pretty around 5:45...rediculous. Needless to say, they were long closed. Had to drive all the way back home in friday rush hour traffic out of Philadelphia. Wasted about 3.5 hours of my life and 1/3 tank of gas for NOTHING.

I hate 76, never drive on it if you dont have to. That damn interchange would be jammed up at 12:01 on Christmas Morning.

611 by the PATP is a mess as well, not to mention the Horsham Road construction going on... You'd think it was Jersey!

Yep, I've only been here 4 years, and I already hated 76 with a passion.
Of course i don't know PA well enough to get around w/o it, so I'm stuck. all i know is if I want to be in KoP at 8, leave at 6:30

While I complain about some of the roads around here, I wouldn't wish the streets of Baltimore on my worst enemy. :furious:

Just to give you the heads up about 76. The work is being done from 9pm-5am or atleast thats what the signs say. Now i drive home around 1 or 2am and i never see anything so i am guessing like 9-12?

common sense...
if one road sucks why not find another one...

We shouldn't have to find the backroad to work. It's a damn interstate for gods sake. Where is our tax money going to. Every road around here sucks just as bad as the next one.

The backroad I would have to take to work is just as bad as the interstate.

I find backroad driving is much more enjoyable to interstate...
I cant stand roads with more than 1 lane going each way lol and driving along with other cars
or maybe just my daily commute is the same thing as my spirited drive
I find it dangerous to commute around anytime between 8-9AM and 3-6PM
drivers during peak hours all have the worst case of PMS! yesterday i even got honked by a truck driving mexican while going into the gas station too slow! :furious:
Time has became so important these days... people need to chill out

but besides the point... should you make ur commute driving a bit more interesting?
of course

oh just to not get flamed... my opinion is formed with the understanding that my daily commute is 5 minutes each way including finding a parking spot... so if i had to commute an hour each way I probably would of thought differently

As far as being a crappy road to drive on, I'm surprised 309 from Montgomeryville to Philadelphia wasn't mentioned! That stretch of road also has to be one of the most dangerous to drive on. Although I do have a lot of stories about driving on 76...

76 has always sucked, and i avoid it at all costs. instead i take back roads like lincoln drive to kelly drive is my favorite. i think it is actually faster than 76 is without traffic! if you haul ass around all of the fun turns like i do.

barry- where do you work and where do you come from? i think i/some people on here can help you find alternative routes around 76. even if it takes you an average of 10 extra minutes then it does when 76 has no traffic at least you are GUARANTEED to make it to your destination on time, every time. 76 like stated is very hit or miss, i've heard of stories of people being stuck on there for like 10 hours at a time!:help:

like say if going to center/city or west philly from the tpk going towards harrisburg-

-take 309 exit south.
-paper mill road towards philadelphia (right turn)
-bethlehem pike/stenton ave towards phila (left turn).
-right turn where stenton becomes one lane, right lane is turn only. believe it -is emlen not sure.
-take that till it hits lincoln drive, make a right on lincoln drive and follow till the end.
-get off at kelly drive, start doing 80mph down kelly drive and sliding around the turns:supz:
- you'll hit the art museaum (sp?).
-west philly/colleges= take spring garden which runs you into basically drexel campus, near u-penn, walnut hill college, etc..
-center city= take the vine street expressway (76), vine street, or the parkway (3 lanes, 2 sections).

hope that helps

Nick i know the alternate ways but they are mostly lots of lights and lots of one laned roads. I have been using this road everyday for 5 years now. I know every back road that goes along 76. those roads piss me off more tho cause apparently green means stop.

76 makes me want to kick puppies. Nothing ever moves, and when it does, its still a nitemare. One day, out of no where, a 3'x3' peice of sheetmetal flew across 2 lanes and slapped my front bumper dead on.

to anyone who asks; this is a pretty much normal road and for what its worth, it was originally pavement not cobblestones :)
http://www.freebmw.net/safir/Carol/13-05-06_1709.jpg
and some of the traffic we ran into on saturday afternoon driving around: note that there are only technically two lanes of traffic there:)
