yesterday we had a dyno day... everything was going good until my third dyno run when one of the straps broke and my car spun off the dyno.... thanks to the guy driving, my car escaped with no major damage and nobody got hurt... things could have gone alot worse than it did, if he didnt react fast my car would have hit the wall where 4 people were standing i broke the left rear contol arm and my antenna was bent from where my car hit one of the guys well here is the video

Owning a dyno I can tell you that you have to have a lot of respect for the types of forces that are in motion there.
I can see from the video that as the car accelerated, the front straps went slack. As they went slack they probably touched something that was moving and burnt. That is why we also do a dry run before we go full tilt.
Also, for your own safety, even if you aren't told by the operator, never stand next to or behind a car on the dyno. People get mad, but I will not allow anyone near the dyno when the thing is in motion, too much chance of someone getting hurt.

just wondering, but why is it strapped from the front?

They are strapped from the back too..the straps up front keep it from rocking back off the rollers, no?

You need it strapped in all driections to prevent it from moving on the rollers. Notice that without the front straps, it moves off the rollers!

dude isnt holding the wheel at all when he gets on the throttle. He has both hands on the back of his head all relaxed. Then the wheels jerk and he tries to compensate...idiots.

just go to revitup. they use plenty of straps.
I had my car on there, and I was watching them strap it down thinking, "isn't that a little too tight?"
But the car didn't move at all, not like the ones in those vids...

That's why you see dyno operators wearing ear protection.
That blue car from the Neon videos looks like it was going to slide off the rollers as well. Yikes!

The only time you run into trouble is when the straps aren't tight enough, then things start to go slack.
2 rear straps hold the car from going foward, 2 front straps stop the car from going side to side and should be criscrossed to use opposing force to keep it steady.

He was making the point that when the front straps broke the car came off the dyno, hence "without front straps".

I understood that as I watched you guys work. But watching the suspension tighten and the car move after each yank was a bit disconcerting. But after seeing these few vids I'm very pleased that you guys tighten the hell out of those things
