Is the hose/tubing that goes from the intake also known as a turbo inlet hose? I would like to purchase this but i am searching and not finding what i'm looking for. Sorry for the noob question...

The part that goes from behind the accordian piece after the MAF, to the turbo, is the turbo inlet. I would suggest the new APS piece, wish it was out when I did mine. Here is a link: http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/wrx/intake/intake.htm

The MAF hose is only going to replace the accordian piece (not a performance gain with the stock turbo inlet), is that what you were looking for? I got the impression that you were looking for the turbo inlet itself.

from what i hear/read it is a performance piece just due to the accordian-type nature of that hose. we'll see how much of a gain it is, if any, and go from there :)

Cool, please report back. I did an intake and a turbo inlet, but still have the accordian between them. If this helps I will pick one up.
Edit: I finally have 10 posts!

i have the perrin one and wish i had got the samco one. the perrin one changes the placement of the hoses and the have a strange bend that almost hit the hood. this does make it easier to install though.

Possibly a misfire or detonation. Check and see if you have any CEL codes in memory. Are you running a UTEC or other type of EMS, if so, its very likely that it was det.

WOW, if finally just looked at the instructions for the APS intake system. The price is great, which is surprising for an APS product. But if you can not install the part yourself, it will cost about $450 to get it installed at a shop that knows what they are doing. Thats an $800 investment in a turbo inlet, WOW. I still dont know why the perrin inlets are looked down upon. I have never seen a problem with one, the price is right and installation it a breeze.
As far as the check engine light on the bogged launch, could have been one of two things, a slow flashing check eng light is a the factory ecu letting you know you had miss fire codes set, and if it was flashing fast it was the Utec telling you there was knock. I have had both happen to me, like alachua said check for codes and see what you have.

because of differences in placement in the fuel lines (and possibly other differences) the installation of the APS Turbo Inlet Pipe on the WRX is actually very very simple, its quite like installing any other inlet hose.
I have read that it is very involved on the STi though and I agree it doesnt sound worth the effort at all (removing the manifold, cutting/modifying fuel line brackets, rerouting hosing, etc etc.)

you guys are talking about the inlet itself- the part i bought is simply the intake hose from the airbox...
and i did check immediately to see if any codes were stored and there were not. it was more of a slow flashing, but if it was a misfire my cel would have stayed on/stored the code, because my car loves misfiring.
i do have a utec, and it is tuned. next time i go to the track i'm going to log runs. basically, i don't plan on bogging again so hopefully i won't repeat the problem

the problem with the perrin one is the breather hoses are placed in a diffrent spot. one of the hoses connects to the top front of the the inlet hose. making the hose do a right angle that almost kinks it, and it rubbs the hood .
as far as install if you dont care about the stock one and you are using the samco or perrin, you can just cut it out without having to remove the manifold cutting your install time in half.
ok, back on topic. ashley you got maf hose.

Oh yeah, it sounds like a MAF hose. I wouldn't get your hopes up about big gains, but it can't hurt.
