Cheap car for the summer...

My buddy is coming back from college soon, and he is going to need a car to get to and from work. He sold his car before he left for college, and doesn't have that much money. He doesn't want to get into buying a car from a dealer.. because he doesn't know if he will keep the car after he goes back to college. So he is looking for something under $1,000 dollars. It doesn't have to be the nicest looking car, but mech sound would be good. So anyone got a cheap reliable beater?

this is true...91 prizm was my first car....lots of fun, you could do anything to that car
