275 rwhp on motor. THAT'S IT! ask anybody at rev-it-up and they'll back me up, it dyno'd less than a stock ls1 does. the 150hp shot gave me almost exactly 150hp, so do the math:wink:

so who wants to race?

why don't the people who dyno'd 300-350++ hp and raced me post up. i want to refresh my memory about what happened. i can think of quite a few but i'll let them tell the story.

-nick, who thinks dyno #'s don't mean dick and et/mph tell the story.

revitup=:supz: :rock: awesome guys, cool as hell. i wouldn't hesitate going there again to tune in the a/f ratio in the future. alot of goddam neons though.

It all depends if they can lock them in gear or not. You won't get close to an accurate run with it shifting @ 4K RPM everytime

No, but go watch about 5 automatics dyno and you'll know what I mean. I think he is comparing it to what a stock MT LS1 makes. An auto can pull for about 2s on the dyno before shifting into the next gear, they never get close to redline and most dynojets don't load the car enough compared to real-world which causes problems with some TCs. All this leads to much lower maximum #s on dyno pulls, but doesn't mean the car has the power.

Any turbo guy will attest to having to tune their electronic boost controller just for the dyno because it does put enough resistance on the wheels to fully load the engine to make the same boost. Mustang dynos are the exception and this is why the generally read lower HP. I always have to set my EBC to target about 5psi higher than normal on dynojets to get the same boost as what I get on the street.

From what I've seen, you can add up to about 50-100hp on top of what an auto dynos at to get the "true" whp depending on setup.

about 3650 or so :cool:

the car has a stall- unlocked #'s. stock AUTO ls1's usually dyno more than my car did. it was locked (via hptuners that i use to adjust the shift tables) in 3rd gear for the pulls.

My animal of a car put down 298 WHP on a mustang dyno at PDT lol. 12.1 on motor...maybe. NOS is sweet! The STi he ran is a 12.0-12.1 second car.
An auto def dynos ALOT lower (10-30%) than a MT. Alot more drive tran loss, and if you add a high stall TC, it will be ALITTe worse.

A car running 12.1 better have more than 275 whp.

I think its safe to say we are looking at the results from running in the wrong gear. I would guess the reading was from a redline run with a gear lower than 1:1.

Just a guess though. Eithier way, running a 12.1 is impressive to me.

oh, we people understand that plenty. In the suby comunity, the PR's are running mid to low 10's with relatively low mods. Why? they practice driving all the time and they know how to set a subaru up correctly for the track running on.

When people really undestand what area under the curve means and how to make combinations that create that power band everybody would see a lot of cars running very fast numbers.
I know that alot of people here thinks that they only needs just buy a lot parts and reach good numbers on the dyno and the car are ready to run 10sec.
Just a small hint to every single Subaru owner that wants to run 10sec. Work on the suspension and on the clutch area. Then you know the rest
Maybe you guys know about a few cars with more peak horsepower but to run fast times you need huge power to the ground on every gear not only on 4th and 5th gear.
Thats the reason you see cars runing very high mph but not so fast times.

i wanted to go again this thurs. to try and do better (im CONFIDENT i can squeeze some more out of it with good air and if the drivetrain holds up) but rain for the next week starting thurs. hoping for at least lower 10.90's, but shooting for a 10.8X in 0 or negative da'. my car went 12.30 on motor that day so i know the air was far from perfect, plus i can delete some weight (30-50lbs easy).

These are formulas they use to estimate hp and ET times:

BHP= (mph*234)^3 * weight
or
BHP=weight/(et*5.825)^3
Using a weight of 3650, et of 12.2 and trap of 110 you get 379 with the first and 397 with the other.

sleeperstyle stop jerking around these kids(i.e. 2point4). 99 /100 dynos aren’t calibrated to properly account for the torque multiplying effect of high stalls. Instead they’re usually set up to generate nice fat dyno queen numbers for manuals, like TNTRamair’s for example. On a dyno calibrated for an auto with the converter’s stall torque ratio parameters, etc --- sleeperstyle’s one-dimensional rowboat is probably putting out peak torque numbers in the area of low 6XX ft/lbs (on steroid juice). Add a sticky tire to ensure that force keeps moving forward and the math translates perfectly into the stated 1/4 times.

y3llo_GTO_burnout
05-15-2006, 01:59 PM
Sinistr, shops can't be bothered. They're too busy doing other things, like bleeding customers. IMO, dynos are best used for one purpose. To establish a baseline figure for your vehicle and then when you return (preferably to the same dyno) compare any future changes to that number. They're not consistent as measuring sticks against other dynos or other cars.
