Who thinks drifting is going to become the new big thing. Just like the after effects of 2F2F.

And I thought that the rising prices of Japanese rwd cars were signs that drifting was already a fad.

wait...what is drifting? Is this new?

Ok...dude...seriously. The Fast and the Furious series is based around fad's. That is why it does well in theaters. Because it takes something popular, like drifting, illegal street racing, etc, and puts it on the big screen for all the wannabe "I luv teh 1337 dr1f70rz!!!111!1eleventybillion".

It's going to become the new ****...I remember seeing teh 1st one in the theatres...there was this Asian guy (in a rather nice show Civic) all JDMd out with his goggles and gloves and ****.

Hillarious....

I think it comes out in June, I'm going to take a volvo to go see it. I don't want to get pulled over for not doing anything like the first fast and furious when I was the only asian in there and I had a black S2000. Damn kids and cops.

Drifting is allready huge. 3fast3furious will just make the mainstream "aware" of what it is...

For those of us who already know about drifting, it will just be annoying to answer all the questions about it and explain what it is to our grandparents! LOL

Overall, it should be good for the sport of Drifting to have some exposure - look at the Sports Compact Car / Import Car market since the first movie came out.....SKYROCKETED!!!!! :supz:

They have been drifting in Japan for like 8-9 years now. Look at Initial D. No newer cars in there, no R33's, no GD Impreza's...

Maybe that will get all the ricers off the street and allow street racing to go back to how it was.

Or maybe they will all "drift" into a wall, crash, blow up, and die.

it isn't a huge track. but it is a LOT of fun. I was doing 110+ on the straightaways in the srt-8 magnum and charger, and srt-6 crossfire.

Great turns too.

I have very mixed feelings... I plan on drifting ETown this summer... I have ****ed around with the touge since I got my first turbo II FC when I was 16 on the back roads of upstate NY.

I wouldnt mind the value of my car to skyrocket, but I also don't want cops hiding on the backroads and having local governments put up speed bumps on all the hairpins...

One thing is for sure though... a lot of dumb 16-17 yr old kids are going to straight up DIE in car accidents this summer! And I'll be real pissed if they destroy some of the already rare vehicles of drifting fame.

And its gonna be all over the news and cops will be all over the responsible car enthusiast. Yeah I cant wait for this because thats what I want more TICKETS!

:iagree:

Most of these kids will be driving in FWD cars. So many of them will rip the e-brake and skid around corners saying it was a "drift".
And Darwin have mercy on the ones who get RWD and AWD cars.

04-24-2006, 10:09 PM
Yeah, I defg know its huge in japan but I think that the production of the movie will bring the hipe over to the US more so that it is know. I also agree there will be alot of kids pulling the ebrake and thinking that they are drifting, go figure. Im interested none the less

From a financial standpoint - its a VERY GOOD THING. If your an "old schooler" who doesnt like it when things ur into go mainstream, then yes, i guess its not so great.

I for one like the exposure and hype for the custom car/import/sport compact car sceene. Yes there are negatives, but overall the industry, the cars, the parts, the tuning, and the overall quality of everything has risen since the explosion of the late 90s/early 2000s.

While im sure 99% of the movie will be corny, the other 1% will be cool and better than ALL the chick flicks my girlfriend takes me to see!
