View Full Version : HKS Exhaust Question

This may not be the correct sub-forum, but I am looking for a place to get a HKS Carbon/Ti exhaust hanger for an 05 STi, as mine recently snapped due to excessive potholes. If anyone has any info, it would be much appreciated.

They closed their US facility following the earthquake in Japan. I guess I could call their Japan contact info, but the long distance charges would probably cost more than the part. :cool:

Plus communication would probably be a pain. I would call R/T or FAST and see what they can do.

Just go to an exhaust shop and have it fixed.

I went to a muffler shop and they were going to charge me $50 to weld it, but couldn't guarantee how long it would last since they could only weld the one side. It wouldn't be a big deal except it is banging up against the rear differential and will eventually puncture the piping.

I called my buddies at Extreme PSI, but they said they couldn't get the part since the US facilities were closed. Maybe I'll try R/T or FAST, thanks.

What do you mean by only 1 side? They should tack a new hanger in place and remove the exhauat from the car to weld it fully if they can't reach. $150-200 should realisticly cover fixing it.

I went to Monroe Muffler on the corner of Rt 29 and Ridge Pike. They said they could not remove the bracket to weld it because they couldn't guarantee they could re-install it afterwards since it is a tight fit. If you know a better place in our area please let me know.

Joey (RockNRace) should be able to fix it. I'd trust him with my car.

Just an FYI.. I live 3 miles down the road from that shop. Needles to say I had them mount new tires when I got flats on 2 seperate occasions... both tires leaked at the bead and I ended up paying somewhere else to do it right.

Muffler shop says they cant' guarantee that they will be able to put it back on again after it's fixed.

You gotta be ****tin me. That has to be the funniest thing I have ever heard.

Take off the hanger and bring it to someone who can weld, preferably TIG (Joey for instance) and slap it back on. All done.

yeah, that looks relatively simple to just weld back together, maybe throw another strip of metal over top. I can def help you out I'm in 18078, id say 10$ would probably do the trick. unless your closer to aaron (sovXietday) and he would want to do it. but i think he's pretty busy. send me a PM if you want. ill be around all weekend
