My drivers side woofer is very quiet, I'll list the details below and everything I've tried because I'm stumped... how else can I dig deeper to find the problem?
Aftermarket Focal 165 Component speakers wired directly to aftermarket Pioneer AVIC D3 head unit
All speakers work fine, except the front drivers woofer. (front drivers tweeter works fine).
Front drivers side woofer is so quiet I didn't think it was on at all... but when I put my ear right up to it you can hear it, barely. It does not get louder when you turn the volume up (it might get distorted though, not sure if that got worse or not).
So far to troubleshoot I have:
switched speakers from side to side
switched crossovers from side to side
pulled head unit out and looked at it, but I really don't know what I'm getting into back there so I haven't changed anything.
No matter what I do the problem still remains with the front drivers side woofer only.
I assume that if the front drivers side tweeter is working then the signal is being set correctly from the head unit to the crossover?
And since I swapped crossovers that it shows that both crossovers are fine.
The aftermarket wiring from the crossover is tapped into factory wiring that runs through the door, then back to aftermarket wiring to the speaker. All connections appear fine to me.
One other thing that may or may not be a factor is that the wires from crossover to woofer pulled out of their connection and may have caused a short on the floor of the car before I dug into this to fix it. I reconnected the wires but I don't know if that could have caused any damage that I haven't already covered by testing speakers and crossovers.
Any ideas at all?
