Skinny snow tires.

I got caught in snow twice and I did fine driving VERY slow (<10mph) in 1-2 inches with high performance summer tires. Other then that, my car was in the driveway for most of the winter.
Don't purposely drive a RWD in snow unless you are driving in a controlled environment.

So with snow tires I should be fine?

I live on one of the steepest hills in manayunk and surprisingly did fine this winter, just make sure you have good snow tires.

The gto didn't leave the driveway the whole winter. Luckily we have an awd car and a truck to use so that it didn't have to.

I don't drive the 240 in snow but I have chains for my maxima. Check out SCC chains. I've used them half a dozen times in the past three winters, well worth it for the piece of mind. I swear I was doing better on the roads then most 4 wheel drive vehicles

Go with the Legacy GT. I traded my old 2005 LGT in for a 300 Chrysler SRT8. I miss the Subaru in the snow. So much fun in the snow and not once got stuck.

To answer your original post: I did surprising well in the SRT8 this past winter. Not once did i loose control and the back end spun out a few times but I was driving snow enough to correct it. The stability control would correct the power to the tires and the car would straighten out itself before I did anything. It could have been the wider rims and tires of the car or perhaps the weight but I was surprised.

Only time I got stuck was trying to get out of a parking spot next to my sister in laws house. And I knew I was gonna have a difficult time getting out and as soon as I parked the car lol

My cousin on the other hand had an extremly difficult time in his 2012 Camaro RS. He lives 5 blocks away from me and it took him almost 45 minutes to get home and up his driveway. I had to follow him home and help it get the car up his driveway to park it.

IMO, it really depends on the car. The SRT8 did surprisingly well in the snow, but it was no match for my 1995 Mazda protege. That thing is a champ lol

I Drove my SC about twice in the snow. It was parked otherwise. It didnt like the snow at all. My ES300 had the snow tires so i used that.

Yeah the legacy just seems so much more practical for this area in the winter time. The rwd opion sounds alot more fun though lol its a tough choice

My wife's rwd ATS turbo with Blizzaks is better in the snow than my LGT with DWS. I had more fun driving her car this winter than driving my LGT. Tires make the most difference.

As much as I love my LGT, it'd be hard for me to recommend one, unless you have a lot of money for potential repairs. They're a bit odd in that they require maintenance like a performance car, but many people never viewed them as such, and didn't maintain them properly. Wanna buy mine? I almost always used Amsoil signature series at 3k OCIs. :)

The LGT's biggest problem is that people didn't maintain them like a performance car. If they went too far between oil changes, sludge builds up in the banjo bolt screen for the turbo oil line feed and starves the turbo of oil. The screen deleted in the 07 and up LGTs.

The car itself is very reliable, when maintained. As soon as you get lax on oil changes or take it to a tuner that doesn't know wtf they're doing, you run into trouble. My LGT never left me stranded. I would drive it until I was 80 if I could, but I'm very tall and I have a family now. I want a V8 land yacht.

Sounds like you need a pontiac G8 GT.

I like those, but I'd like something newer. Maybe a Chevy SS or Chrysler 300 SRT 8.
