"Florida model and TV host Jessica Barton has an ardent following on the swimsuit scene, with a slew of magazine spreads, TV commercials and party appearances to her resume. But she's also known among hot rodders for her hobby -- a custom-built 1994 Toyota Supra that ranked among the most powerful of its kind in the nation. Today, that Supra fell victim to a Florida chop shortly after it was reported stolen. While known more for her bikini work and her role in the strippers vs. the undead movie "Zombies! Zombies! Zombies!," Barton was not just an attractive face in the world of import sports car tuning, often running the Supra at drag strips and even using it as a daily driver. Last year, at the annual TX2K meetup of the country's fastest street-legal rides, Barton's Supra out-tested a fleet of tuned Nissan GT-Rs and Lamborghinis, hitting 1,165 hp on the dynometer, thanks to a combination of turbos and nitrous; on drag strips, the car had covered a quarter mile in 8.64 seconds.

The car wasn't just attractive to racers. According to Barton, thieves managed to swipe the Supra sometime between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. last Wednesday from Waterford, Fla. While auto thefts have been declining in recent years, more industrious thieves have turned to race cars and hot rods, since they're often built with more expensive parts and frequently lack the anti-theft or tracking devices built into newer models.

Barton offered a $5,000 reward for the car, but today posted to Instagram that the offer came too late, sharing a photo of Supra pieces piled in a dirt lot. "That car has been evolving over 8 years and hundreds of thousands probably invested in it," Barton said in a comment. "I could never just build another one. It's impossible to do all this again. It's a devastating loss to me."

The rarity of the go-fast pieces built into the Supra might help authorities find the guilty parties, and Barton's fans have vowed to comb the depths of Craigslist for leads. But fame may not give Barton any more justice than thousands of other chop-shop victims receive every year. Even a 1,200-hp car can't outrun some trouble."

You could get agreed upon value with a private insurance company, but it likely wouldnt cover a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of work. Raw value might have covered 50,000-75,000 dollars depending on what was actually on the car, but if you consider labor and time invested, that can never be recovered. It's a tragic loss for the car community, I just wish we could do more to hunt down thieves like this.

I'v read so much crap about this, its everywhere. I read its not even really her car, and that it's just in her name to bring some publicity to her boyfriends shop. Yeah I know! If its in her name, its her car, but you get what I mean. I think there is only 1 video of her driving the thing on the highway, every other ounce of media on it is her boyfriend racing the car, or her on top of it naked. :lol:

Sounds like a publicity stunt unfortunately, just a guess though. I realize if someone wants to steal a car they will find a way but there are ways to make it extremely difficult. It'll put her the spotlight for a few months but it'll soon be forgotten.

Publicity stunt? It's a rare car, I don't think so lol. You can read anywhere that "it was outside of her bf's garage because there was not enough room inside the shop" The car I guess had broken the freeze plug or something wrong with the freeze plug on the block so she couldn't move it anywhere else by itself.

I don't think it was supposed to grab the media attention, it just did. So many people posted and reposted on forums the day it was stolen. I think it just went around social sites and people wanted to know more. 4 days later it's on yahoo.

There are plenty of other high dollar operations worth more than hers that are being stolen and it's not getting the publicity like this. Go on yellowbullet.com and you will find a thread for a stolen race car almost every other day. This **** is just getting out of control in general.

I know she's getting extra attention because of her modeling, but don't discount the huge amount of time and money it takes to develop a 6 speed car to run 8's consistently. This CAR has a following as well because it is one of the most well respected and fastest 6 speed Supras out there and it really is impressive regardless of who drives it. With that said there's a ton of footage of her driving the car out there, but Darin does drive it now as well since selling his own Supra.

I don't think this was insurance fraud or a publicity stunt at all, the amount of time and money that went into this won't ever be recovered and anyone who has really done a major overhaul on a car would understand that.
Not trying to nutswing but its just lame that so many people have negative comments with such a terrible situation and are judging on things that they don't even know about. Bottom line is if you're a car enthusiast and you've spent enough time working on a car you would feel for this situation at least enough to hold back on any unnecessary negativity. If this happened to me I don't know how I'd be able to handle it.

yeah i was just gonna say...i saw this thing at MIR at the World cup finals. that sucks man, regardless of who owns it, its ****ed up that it happened. i can understand her being a little chippy...if it had happened to anyone of us, we'd all feel the same way. $50k is a nice start to getting another back to that caliber though...atleast she aint SOL.

But yeah, anyone who put that kind of time and work into their vehicle just to have some putz steal it...that would drive me crazy. My thing is, there was no way the vehicle could be moved inside? Towed? Pushed? I couldn't imagine leaving that built up ride on the street or outside for that matter.

Reading through that thread on supraforums was really pissing me off, they dont understand what level of professional this guy is on, also that the car could be chopped apart put in a storage crate and shipped over seas and made more money on it.... people do it with instruments and send them to africa all the time. Their legit ****ing idiots over there, drooling over a decent bodied stripper that drives the same car as them. From what I heard, the car was in a trailer. The thieves stole the trailer with the car in it. The trailer was then torched, which can be seen in the background of the picture of the car's remains.

The reason why people are suspecting this to be insurance fraud, which I can totally understand, is because of how swiftly the car's remains were located. When a car is stolen and then chopped to bits like this Supra was, the car is either never found or found a long time afterward. This car was found only ≈two days after it was reported stolen. That is either a case of extreme luck or something fishy is going on.

They had no room in their big ass garage, so the car with "300k" invested into it over time had to go on the street....

Just found that they found the car and the house that it was being stored in. Apparently 4 people are already in custody, the house was littered with her parts as well as other stolen motorcycles and car parts. They even found the tools used to chop up the car.
