Ok, so it's been forever since I've been on here. Since last time I was on here years ago, i graduated college with a 3.9, I spent a year selling cars, and now I'm finally in a good financial spot where I'm self employed as a day trader (I buy and sell high volume stocks). Anyway, for the longest time I've wanted a new audi, and now i'm finally in the position where I can do so.

I wanted the new RS5, but loaded up it's simply too expensive. I went to the next best thing, the S5, and saw it now comes with a 3.0T. I was super upset, because i wanted the 4.2, something completely different to replace the evo. So with no choice, I started looking at used 11s and 12s. I found these two:

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=19123&endYear=2012&modelCode1=S5&startYear=2011&makeCode1=AUDI&sellerTypes=b&searchRadius=100&extColorsSimple=BLACK&mmt=%5BAUDI%5BS5%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=328904331&Log=0 premium plus tiptronic

and this one

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?zip=19123&endYear=2012&modelCode1=S5&startYear=2011&makeCode1=AUDI&sellerTypes=b&searchRadius=100&extColorsSimple=BLACK&mmt=%5BAUDI%5BS5%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=333433120&Log=0 prestige manual trans

I've contacted both the sellers. I don't know too much about Audi's because I've never owned one, but this premium plus apparently comes with all the prestige equipment, like the bang and olfsen audio, nav, keyless, backup camera etc

so my questions are as follows:

should i go with the manual or tiptronic?

which is the better deal? the 12 is newer AND has less miles - but to me it doesn't make sense that it's a premium plus optioned out like a prestige - i didn't even know that was possible, and wouldn't it be more expensive? the 11 I'd be buying for 52k even, and I didn't start negotiating with the 12 owner. I'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow on one of these, so i'd appreciate any kind of feedback in regards to the different transmissions, and about how the premium plus is optioned out - hell, for all I know the guy could be mistaken and perhaps it is a prestige.
also, any changes between the 11s and 12s? I try to find videos on youtube, but they're mostly for sale vids from dealers.

Also, if anyone on here owns one of these, or has driven it, I'd love to hear what you think.

Thank you so much,

Steph

prestige...

why do you think so? the premium plus is loaded up like the prestige - minus the vented seats. it seems like a better deal, being newer with less miles, and the tiptronic costs more than the manual on top of it. i was starting to lean to the premium plus, it seems like it essentially is a prestige.

prestige will still have "prestige" only options and they tend to hold there value better over the course of time, the prestige also has the audi drive select which is a nice option since it gives you the sport differential (a must have imo)

One piece of advice is call around to all the local dealers maybe even up to a reasonable driving distance to see if they have any 2012 leftovers. You could probably get a better deal, have no miles, and take full advantage of the factory warranty/ext. warranty options.

that's what i was thinking, but from what i understand the leftovers have been gone for months now. I'm going with that 12, I saw it today. Should have it by Weds or Friday. I'm very excited.

you will regret not getting the sports differential, it really transforms these cars

yeah, i believe it - it's a shame i won't have it, but this car has everything else i want, with such low miles and really was kept nice. i'm not so into being all racy-racy anymore either - i really grew out of that, so the drive select isn't an essential. someones buying my evo tomorrow and i'm so happy to let it go. i think the s5 will be a great car, even without the drive select. but thanks for pointing that out to me, i didn't know you have to go to the prestige for that.

whats CPO? I'm a girl, people always assume I'm a guy because of the evo. I actually just sold the evo. it was a blue by you that ran high 12s. Nothing special. I wanted 15k for it, but I took 13.5 for it - it had 93k miles. you can see it here:

I'll kinda miss it but not really - such a nightmare to try and get it inspected because of emissions. I'm picking the audi up from Jersey Wednesday, I'm very excited. Thanks for all the tips, i think i made the right decision. plus i love that tuscan brown.

S5's are sweet cars but when you're warranty is up sell it as soon as possible. They aren't really made with longevity in mind.

well, i handed over the $49,999 check to the owner of the 12 today. i absolutely love the car, and i've got 33 months left of audi care so i'm happy about it. definately the best car i've owned yet.
