Just the catback?? I'm not that good with a wrench, but a cat-back install is no problem at all. If you have a jack trust me that you can do it yourself, but yeah, any speed or exhaust shop will have no problem doing it whatsoever.

I've dropped and put back up my whole exhaust from header to muffler all in one peice by myself on my back. It's not fun but you gotta do what you gotta do. If you really wanna pay someone to do it my friend works at Alex's custom exhaust in Bridgeport. It's just him and Alex. He's been around for at least 30 years with his shop and has been doing exhaust's for probably 50. He is verry well known in hot rodding and drag racing. It's still pretty much down time before it gets crazy busy. Give him a call if you want and I'll tell my friend to possibly expect your call. I can't quote prices though. 610-275-3008. Honestly it's not to hard to do but if you can't get anyone to help you.

well, if you're going to take it to a shop i'd recommend going to one of the vendors here that does installs like bcspeed or revitup or other shops who do install work which i cant think of right now.
but like i said, its quite simple :)

any muffler shop can install a cat back for you. its VERY easy . you can do it youself if you want.
i went to alex to get a quote on a full custom exhaust from the downpipe back. the exhaust path on my car is so simple, and all i wanted was cheap aluminized steal.... but somehow he quoted me almost 700$ for the job...umm thanks but no thanks.

Shouldn't be that hard, but you will need some kartboy ehxuast hangers that thing is a monster and its going slam against the bottom of your car just like my hks did. Can't beat it for only $30 bucks, pick them up before the install.

Hmmm....that's wierd. Out of the two he's the perfectionist. Even on stock replacements he's taking his time and doing nice welds and clean ups. You should have taken it back. They would have thrown it right on the lift fixed it for you and sent you on your way.

That sucks. He can be pricey, depending on situations. Did you want it tig welded with manderal bends? Or was he gonna use the crush bender and slap something on there. Sometimes I hear him quote people prices and think they are out of their mind for paying what they pay but he's verry good at what he does and has a huge reputation so maybe that's why he charges so much. It's not like he's a minake where he can charge less and make money off of volume. It's just him and my friend.

you know how alex feels about mandrel bends... he dosnt see a point to them. so he was just going to slap something on there using his compression bender. i was cool with that, since my exhaust setup is so simple and just needs a few very small bends. i figured it would be a very cheap and easy job for him.
i also am friends with another small shop in the are that refered me to him, so i thought he would give me a good deal, but boy was i wrong. in comparison, a buddy of mine got the same exact setup that i want, done to his car for about 350$. 700$ is the price i would expect to pay for all stainless, mandrel bent exhaust, not crappy aluminized crush bent.
does rev it up do custom exhaust work?

Yeah, I know how he feels about them. He's actually pretty close to buying a manderal bender probably withing the next few months depending on how long he has left because his building changed ownership and may sell for a huge profit.
You gotta realize though just because someone from another shop reffered you to him doesn't mean you're gonna get a discount. If that's how it worked then alex wouldn't be able to afford to live. See what people don't understand is that it's so easy for companies to make exhaust these days that they make them thin as hell and but what they need in huge quantities. They then make the exhausts and sell them. Then you got someone who owns his own shop who's trying to compete with people just being able to order one up from the internet. Not only that I believe his pipes are a 12 gauge compaired to pretty much all companies running 16-18. It's thicker for durability and that costs more. Now go on the internet and see if you can find a turbo back system for you car for $700 bucks. That's how he looks at it and that's how he runs it. Sorry for the semi rant but most young people don't understand that. And as far as the other shops charging that's them. Maybe they had a good month or maybe they use the 18 gauge pipe. Who knows.

I asked my friend if he remembered your car and he did. He said it was definatly tight and had no leaks. He said sometimes bolts can back out and that's probably what happened there's nothing you can do about that. Then you either just tighten them up yourself of take it back and have them do it.

ugh ... u lose customers if u dont do the job correctly the first time btw...
and u gain customers if u do it right...
im not going back to a shop that cant put test pipes aka one of the easiest things to slap on if u got a lift and air tools correctly
im sure u'd do the same thing

I drove out to Select Exhaust in Reading to have a custom catback put together on my '04 Impreza. $300 parts and labor.
The Meineke in the next town over from me (Exton) is advertising custom exhaust jobs now as well.

I have installed every part on my car myself. Check out my garage. I have no formal auto training and consider myself every bit of a 'shadetree' mechanic. I just reasearch and plan ahead for my installs. IMO you can't consider yourself a 'tuner' if you pay someone else to do all the work for you. I like to get my hands dirty and learn something while upgrading my car. A lot of the time, learning how to install stuff is almost at fun feeling the differences that a new part or upgrade adds.
I will never pay someone to install a part on my car unless the install requires a tool that I dont own or dont have access to.

My cousin and I did mine in about 2 hours in the freezing cold on two jack stands while our tools froze to the ground, still an easy install. ( 2 hours because we had to keep going inside to warm up again.)
