I read many rumors, but it looks like it is confirmed. A "FWD" sporty car likely with the Juke 1.6L Turbo engine is on its way.

It looks more like a VW GTI/Honda Civic Si/Scion tC competitor to me.

It really is just ugly. I read about this earlier. They need to fix that design and fast.

They had a way better concept a few years back that used a boosted 2.5L engine. Why they never went through with it is beyond me.

What are you talking about? There has been a 2 door Altima model since 2007.

With this being turbo from the factory I see this making some waves for sure.

that's ****ing awesome looking. really needs to be RWD though.

When I first read about it a few months go, Nissan said it would be a 2 seat RWD car smaller than the 370Z and close to the size of the BRZ to compete with the BRZ and Miata. Now that its FWD, its an instant fail.

FWD competing with a RWD? I guess in that sporty-cheap car coupe segment, but not in driving dynamics. FWD FTL. and that car looks sooo ugly. Why can't they just bring back the Silvia! change the S15 body a little bit and bam! winning.

Something about the idea of a performance economy car doesn't do much for me.

I see some MS3 in that nose, but that ain't saying much.
But why FWD?? Just seems backwards.
Same size engine as the turboed fiesta- FWD, economy....

i think its supposed to be a come back S chassis. or at least i saw concept pictures of an S16 somewere online. this may be refined in the next 2 years....
edit: ohhhh.. fwd, didnt notice that.. idk maybe its just a hop on the small coupe market. tho i do hope they release a new rwd platform.

yeah, so its basically a redesign of that right?

I think there is a lot of media attention on Nissan right now, and the writers are just making assumptions. In the last 10 days, I have seen legitimate articles about a new Nissan Z, being a 4 cylinder turbo, smaller, and lighter. A new sx being smaller and lighter based off the 180sx, and now this FWD car. Sounds to me like Nissan said a few words about something, and now the media is jumping to their own conclusions.

Not quite. If anything, I'd say this will be closer to a 2 door Sentra then altima. I could see it being called a 160SX. But now I guess this means they aren't putting the Juke engine in the new Spec-Vs as I have been hearing.

I can't see Nissan putting this car into production. It's ugly for one, and I don't know how this could be a good competitor to the FR-S/BRZ. They are marketing those cars as affordable driver's cars, as they should because that's what they are. Just the fact that this car is FWD means it could never truly compete with those cars.

you can't target the frs/brz with a FWD car

Sorry but I'd rather have a b13 fwd se-r sentra for a track car any day. I was not impressed at all ridin in the frs.

How so? Light B13 + SR20DET = fun
300whp would be easy to hit (even 400whp and 500whp aren't hard for an SR20DET), 2600lbs. It could be ~2400lbs because you'd probably take some stuff since it's your track car. All of that can be done for ~$13k (possibly less).

I can have a b13 seconds faster around the track for a quarter of the price. Doesn't seem so retarded to me.

Someone will always be faster for less money. I'm sure some of the GRM 20XX challenge cars would whup ass on most of the FWD modified nissans out there in lap times.

Maybe but maybe not. Depends on the car I guess.

I really can't stand anything made by Nissan anymore, just literally cheap cars. Nissan's market strategy is to throw as much **** on the market and see what sticks.

We had tons of rentals with the HHR. The Nissan was one of the nicest ones.
I don't see why you need to compete with The Toyburu at all.
It's defeated itself.
It's the most overhyped car to come by in a long time.
Not only is it slow as hell, but the drivetrain can handle power upgrades to the engine.

They are able to flood the market because they are established. They have a car for every division possible. Small, mid-size, full-size: Car, trucks, SUV, crossovers. Roadsters, cabriolets (though it is the ugliest thing they ever made), electric, supercar. It is pretty much, if you name a type of car, they offer it.
I don't know what you mean by "cheap cars". If you buy a Nissan, you are buying a quality Japanese car. I'd say the same for Toyota and Honda as well. They don't make bad or cheap cars. Though the interior in some Toyotas make the car feel cheap.
The numbers don't lie for Nissan:
-July 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today reported June U.S. sales of 92,237 units versus 71,940 units a year earlier, up 28.2 percent. Nissan Division sales increased 24.6 percent for the month at 81,801 units. Sales of Infiniti vehicles were up 66.1 percent over the prior year, to 10,436 units.
-Nissan Juke sales of 3,101 units represented an increase of 52.7 percent from the prior year, a June record.
