Good day everyone ;)

I regularly don't post in here but I will be in the market soon. I haven't geared towards my end goals yet but it's either going to be straight track use [time attack] or weekend road warrior/some track use.

As noted by my user ID, I have owned an 06 evo prior but due to a layoff during the downturn in ecomony has left me with a POS audi b6. I purchased it because of price and family of 4. I will now have a beater that I can use so having a dedicated track car/weekend warrior is no longer out of question and a great track build is possible.

The best thing about an evo is familiarity of everything and what to look for when buying it.

The subaru would be purchased new but I don't know if I can stomach paying for a new brz when I can easily purchase a well-built evo for the same amount. BRZ power output of 200hp and 159~ tq is very low. Considering it against the evo, I think being new and nicer interior while maintaining handling plus potential to be first with doing some major upgrades like turbo kit etc where some performance shops may be interested in sponsoring it does sound enticing as well. It is just going to keep adding$$ though.

Anyway, thoughts of evo vs brz? or future sti brz?

I wouldn't do the Evo... not because they are bad cars or because I don't like that... but I think you won't enjoy building the same car again. I know I wouldn't.

If I had 25k for a track car/weekend racer bang for the buck can't be beat with a C5 Vette. I do like the look of the BRZ but it just doesn't have the power to back up how it handles/looks. I'd also couldn't pay a premium for a new car just to void the warranty. It would be cool if they could discount the car and you just buy as is for a project though.

I dont think thats what he was asking, but you have a good point in bold.

Well for the simple fact u said EVO or BRZ. I would say evo just because the fact u are familiar with it and know the inns’ and out's. The BRZ does lack power out of the box. I’m sure with some work it would be track worthy, but I don’t know if it has the aftermarket for it. If it was me I would stick to something that has has proven themselves. AS for the STI BRZ I dunno. maybe wait. what are the numbers for them?

There are already many performance parts out for the brz from full exhausts to coilovers. yes it just came out but the parts are coming very very quickly.
there are already sti swaped brz s from what i have seen.

i would pick the brz its something different and you can do your own thing to it.

I would do both, but I already have an Evo (it's a X, but whatever). I'd like to have a BRZ as a second car, but that's not gonna happen for a while. I would pick the Evolution if you're thinking about time attack. I think it would cost more to make the BRZ as fast as an Evolution.

jpalamar makes a very good point.

as well as other posts.

i would think limited support of the brz would be intimidating. i dont want to spend an arm and a leg when i feel i can get a decent modded evo that i can test my time attack noob skills.

yet, a modded brz as seen in the modded form they tested out looks damn sexy and power to weight ratio would be insane.

if i decide on the brz, i would want to wait atleast a year for bugs and support plus more aftermarket available instead of paying a premium. i would also have trouble deciding betwren the brz and frs if its dedicated track. the cosmetic differences will be changed.

ketchup!

i'd take an evo, then a s2k, rather than the brz

My vote is the vette I know it wasn't one of your choices but the bang for your buck factor is incomparable especially since you can get a c5 z06 with around 50k on it for around 20

I'd say pick up a c5. Huge after market and it's priced well. If a brz is in your budget a c5 certainly is. Then I would say an s2k.

I would not pick up any, you worked on a evo once and the FRS is way to new.

FRS with the 5axis kit.

there are parts available for them and as time goes on, maybe even engine swaps, like the lsx.

A-men. I'm shocked used Vettes aren't more common here. They are inexpensive, simple to work on, make tons of power, and the LSx engines are quite reliable. I'm looking to get back into a Vette that or a new '13 Mustang GT500. Was on the sight an built one today with track-pack and leather recaro's for the the small fee of $950 /month.
