I'd take it to PSI PROformance or K.P. Tuning

What mods and tune does it have?
Have you done a compression test?
Have you checked the turbo for shaft play?
Is their coolant in the oil or vice versa?

When you say "57 trim turbo" that screams ebay to me. If so, thats my guess as to what your problem is. Do you have oil accumulating in your intercooler or downpipe? Take them off and check.

Color of the smoke would really help narrow things down. Black, white, or blue smoke? Is it thick smoke? What does it smell like?

57 trim was also a very popular turbo from PTE several years back.

11secdsm is right. 57 pte.real old school turbo.at that time it was like the best turbo to get without changing to tubular manifold and getting external wastegate. i have evo3 mani and my turbo has the internal wastegate, supposedly good for 450-to 500hp.ok for me if i can get that. ima run ecm link with e85 1200cc injectors. i think if tuned right my factory 6bolt with mls, arp's and balance shaft removed and 272 cams should handle it without blowing.ok guys its black smoke and it definitively smell like oil burning. my brother and i just figured out its the turbo. we took out the turbo oil feed line and plugged it. and put a plastic srewdriver jamming the impeller from spinning. and turned it on. and now smoke. opened the oil fill to check for blow by nothing. i put the feed line back in, took out the screwdriver and on idle is smoking like a chimney.Twistedtuning offered to help, thanks alot, and directed me to the right direction to Arizona Turbo & Tractor Supply. best place for me, because im broke right now, after spending almost 1000 in extreme psi. i would love a new turbo, with a new manifold and external wastegate. maybe in a couple of months i can upgrade. but for now $200 bucks turbo rebuild is the best choice. what is one of the best turbos out now for dsm's? is it still the gt35r?

Contact Justin for a turbo rebuild. He's semi-local and very reasonably priced. He's done several for my customers and I've only got good things to say about him.

I don't think I'm much help but when my Eclipse smoked it was just the PVC valve. -_- something that small made my car smoke after 3000rpm...

Justin is awesome and does excellent work. I second this recommendation.

Im not a huge fan of PTE journal bearing turbos so I will keep my comments to myself.
