I guess that depends on your definition of production. How many units a year need to be made for it to qualify as a production car?

For example, the street legal version of the Eagle GTP Corvette with its optional 621 cid V8 was the world's fastest production car until the Bugatti Veyron came out, but very few people recognized it as a production car. If I remember the article information correctly form Car &Driver, the rules were changed at LeMans to not allow this car to enter the race with the pushrod V8 built to exploit the rules. 2950 lbs, 900 HP 900 ft-lbs of torque and a gear limited 240+ MPH top speed in a "production" street car. Yet I doubt more than a dozen a year were built.

the term "Fastest Production Car" gets tossed around more than Kim Kardashian in the back of Kanye's whip.

there's a fine line when you're talkin "production"....used to be that in order for it to be production it would have to be a car that you can buy walkin into a dealership. now a days, if you buy one and send it to a company such as UBB you can still consider it a production. (which i dont agree with but who am i to dissagree). Ford does it with Shelby aswell but Shebly has long become the "sport" series for ford...much like what AMG is to MB, M series to the BMW, SRT for Dodge and so on.

as far as im concerned Shelby owns that title of the Fastest Mustang...u can walk into a dealership and buy a Shelby car if you have the money with FULL factory warranty. dont beleive you can get that with one of those UBB cars.
