Went to E-town today to run in the import survival series. I ran in the heads up AWD class and took second place to Keith Laforte.

I also got a new best:

60: 1.705
330: 4.717
1/8: 7.110
MPH: 100.81
1000: 9.141
1/4: 10.838
MPH: 133.00

The two runs before that were 11.01 and 11.10, both at 128-129mph. I turned up the boost a little bit for the 10.8 run.

This is on kumho 711 street tires, stock suspension (minus eibach pro-kit springs) and the BONE stock transmission.

Roll bar. 2 more MPH and I need a cage.

A couple members of philly DSM were there and got some videos. They were with a digi cam though so I'm not sure how well they came out. I'll post them when I get them though.

Wow, congrats, that's a fast car. I like how unnassuming it is, too. Even with the monster front mount, on those wheels with nothing exterior I would assume it to be a typical 13-second DSM. Very coooool.

yeah, i was NOT expecting that either. even though i knew it was a beast, i didn't think it was gonna pull a 10.

it was great too, cuz crowd was quiet. i guess they were all shocked because it was the one of the few cars that made it in the 10s that day...when 1 honda with slicks, gutted interior, that did a 10 minute burn out, and was louder than a plane would run a 10, the whole crowd was yelling. but after tony ran his 10, we got the stares like "**** you guys". i mean, noooobody said anything. lol. whats up with that?

The only ones I've run into around me have been POOR examples of what your cars are capable of. Like the black one in Warminster with the 'GReddy' intercooler that I'm pretty sure is still on the T-25 and is slammed just off of the ground. I know what they can do, but I never run into the really fast ones. Not that my car is anything but another slow WRX :(

Okay, maybe not TYPICAL 13 sec DSM, but it's pretty unnassuming for what it can do.

A full mod list is too long to post. Some basics though are a 2.3L eagle/ross stroker, T67 turbo, DSMLink, Magnus intake, etc, etc. You can look on my web site for more details. It's mostly accurate besides the turbo setup and injectors.

Thanks for the kind words guys. This has been a long time coming and I definitely didn't think it would happen yesterday.

Who ever said DSM trannies were crap? 97k miles, 200+ passes and now a 10 second time slip all at full weight or over on my trans. Still shifts like butter.

I'm confused, how does that explain anything? I think at least the top 5 fastest DSM's are on non-stroked motors.

I didn't know what motor work you had done. Seeing that it's a stroker motor, I'm assuming that it's a fully built race motor. I don't know much about DSM's but I do know that the fastest Evo's are stroked and they have pretty much they same 4G63 as yours correct?

Actually, the "fastest" evo's are still on 2.0's. The fast street evo's run 2.3's. The evo motor is similiar to the DSM motor but not the same. One major difference is that it's the opposite, 180 degrees rotated.

TurboTagTeam
04-04-2006, 09:48 PM
It's opposite? Ya learn something new everyday.

Why is it that the fastest street evo's are 2.3? The black 900whp AMS evo is a 2.0????

The black one isn't AMS's and it's a street car. I'm pretty sure it has yet to run any decent numbers for its power also. It is a 2.3L but AMS's drag car is a 2.0L.

2.0L's rev a lot higher than 2.3L. In order to make up for the change in displacement, a 2.0L needs to rev ~1000 RPMs more, on average, 2.0's can rev 1500 or more RPM's higher than a 2.3L. I was only reving mine to 7500 on the 10.8 pass. I plan on seeing if it makes power up to 8500 though next time out.

I never seen the front of the car. I spotted him in his driveway a bunch of times but always see the rear of the car. It looks very clean definetely didnt expect to hear that its ebay modded. I hope to meet up with this guy one day, cause does look well taken care of. Do you know what turbo hes running?

Holy christ...what do you have done to that thing.

2.3L, T67 and DSMLink.

I'm wondering where all the "DSM's have glass transmissions" people are right now. Stock 97k miles transmission, with an abused life of over 200 drag passes just went 10's in a heavier than stock DSM. I think it's the drivers that make the transmissions "glass"

AMS's silver Evo is not stroked and Chris's black evo has yet to run anywhere near the "fastest" evo's times.

This thread isn't about evo's though.

I don't really care either way. It hasnt run those times yet and it hasnt been to the track yet. 900hp doesn't mean it "WILL" run 9's, he still needs to drive the **** out of it. I don't know the guy though and I doubt you do either, so why's it matter? I hope he does go 9's personally, I never once said I dont think he will.

Regardless, the rest of the fast evo's out there are on 2.0's. That was my point to this anyway. I don't understand why everyone is disputing the fact when all I'm doing is discrediting my OWN motor.

2.3L's are great for street cars, they have a little more low end and they get the turbo's spooled faster. If you're building an all out drag car however, 2.0L is the way to go. The difference is about 1000 RPM's power wise, and 2.0's have proven to rev more than 1000 RPM's higher than 2.3's. As you would say, end of story.

But thanks for highjacking my thread and complimenting me on an accomplishment that I had.

Still here.

LOL.

You definitely know how to drive and setup the car. That goes a long way.

Stock DSM trannies are still good enough to get into the 12s. On the other hand modded DSM trannies have come a long way. Shep and a few others definitely know how to put frankenstein trannies together using OEM parts that can take a lot of abuse and are reliably into the single digits. And of course we also have dogbox trannies available to us.

I decided to push my luck no further. Trans is coming out this weekend at the latest. I'll post where its going and whats getting done once its finalized.

I think some weight reduction is coming very soon also. I'm not going Wil style, but the car will get lighter. The NHRA sport RWD class rules limit me to a minimum of 3000lbs with driver. I have almost 400lbs I can loose.
