Last night I wanted a Monster so I stopped by Sunoco. I park my car, go inside, and I'm looking out the window and I see a new white corolla back into my car and I saw my car shake. I thought my eyes played a trick on me. I go outside, and a guy asks if this was my car. I say yes, and he says those people just hit your car. Then I look up and see them flooring it out of the gas station.
I was like NOOO. So I got in my car and followed the car. They were driving kinda fast and pulled a shady manuver and turned off of street road. I followed them. At the traffic light, they stopped. I was behind them. I got out of my car, walked up to the guys window, and politely asked him to roll his window down. The dudes faced turned white, and he said why? I asked him again and he takes off! So I follow him again just long enough until I can read his plate number, once I got it I just turned around, went back to the gas station, and called the police. 3 of them showed up, and I told them what happened.
They said they would go to the guy's house. Man I hope they find him, somebody hit my car and left while I was at school but I didn't see who did it. It's so annoying I try to keep my car in good shape and people just mess it up ugh. Wish the guy would have just stayed and gave me his info

Yeah, people are scum. They will probably find him, give him a ticket (if that's how works) and he will have to go to court, and you might also. Good luck with it all.

Hit and run is a hell of a ticket. At the very least you got their license plate so you should be fine. Any pictures ? Also always be careful when you approach a car. Maybe it's living in Jersey City but I would avoid walking up to a car like that if I could help it. They already ran from the accident they clearly don't care.

same thing happened to me last summer. thankfully i was in my beater so i didnt really care when the lady backed into my car. she wouldnt pull over so i followed her as well and pulled up to her at a red light. i simply rolled my window down and told her that her custom license plate made it very easy for me to remember as i held my phone in my hand. it look like she was about to literally **** herself. i just pulled a u turn and left lol.

I would see if the gas station has video of it, that would help a lot. if they were able to clean off their car so that you couldn't tell he hit anything they most likely can't do anything.

Why didn't you call the police while you were following them? Just wondering.

When i got hit and run the guy gave me info then took off. guess what... fake info, all of it. Luckily i got his plate as he took off. Dude had no license, car was stolen from his grandmom, and he was on probation for drunk driving. Not only did i get my damages covered, i got a free rental car, and that clown went to prison.

I believe if you leave the scene as well then the police cant do anything.

Probably adrenaline kicked in and he just wanted to confront the A-holes that did it. When something like that happens you can't fault anyone for going with their initial instinct on how to handle it. Hope those bastards get nailed to the cross!

+1 to this. You have to be careful with that. Although I can't say I wouldn't have done the same if I was in the moment. I do hope they find them and everything gets taken care of for you though!

That sucks man. I came out to my car after being in a car for a couple hours and i found a nice dent in my car. It's my beater and was almost 1.5 years ago. Still haven't fixed it.

ha, and I thought people only booked out when they hit crappy cars like mine. lol. ur lucky u didn't get shot when u walked up to the window to confront him though. with the way u describe chasing him, its reasonable that he could have feared for his life and been warranted in protecting himself, since you are after all, not a law enforcement agent. not that it would be justified, but still. better advice is to just get the plate if they've already left the scene, which is a serious crime. and I would definitely think that gas station surveillance video will be of interest to the involved insurance companies, if not the police dept. better talk to them about it before they tape over it!

When I was parked on the streets of west chester someone decided to key my car all the way from the passenger headlight all the way down to the second door.

I highly doubt they will be found and if they are, they will have months before the court orders them to pay anything, and then if they are ordered to pay....they can just not. Good luck

But the insurance information will make it to the police report

Had a similar situation happen to me a few years ago.
I was at a party standing on the deck when a friend of a friend went to leave. The kid backs out of the driveway and into my car across the street. The impact made a THUD and I was in such disbelief I doubted what I had just heard. I turned to my friend and said "I'm pretty sure ____ just hit my car." My friend assured me that I was over reacting. I walked out to my car....sure enough the guy backed right into the side of my car putting a huge dent in the doors.
I walked into the party and yelled "SOMEONE get me _____'s phone number......NOW." Called the guy, told him he hit my car, and his response was...."Can I just meet up with you tomorrow? I'm kind of tired and have to work really early." I said "If you don't get back here in the next 15 minutes I'm calling the cops." Luckily his insurance paid out and everything got resolved.
CF: Don't park your car across from a driveway at a party.

Ummmm first off, its really not that difficult for police to get in contact with someone with just a plate number. Sure there are exceptions, but I highly doubt this little scared white kid is going to drop his life to evade police. If they have insurance, their insurance company will pay for it.
I bet this kids mom has already been contacted, and I bet the insurance company has already been contacted.
