Sure it wasn't a repo? Thieves rarely use flatbeds due to the time involved in loading and strapping down the car. When I was doing repos it didn't matter how long it took me to load the car, once I located the car it was mine. The repo company I worked for used both flat beds and self loaders.
Obviously this might not be the case but I would be surprised to find car thieves using flat beds. Sometimes a larger ring ($$) will have a wrecker with a self loader. These are far less conspicuous than flat beds (they can even be in a normal SD pickup).

Don't be so sure. There's no black market on Vette parts. If anything they'd only take it to joy ride it. Vettes are actually easy to break into, but difficult to actually start and drive away without specific knowledge of the starting system

I owned ONE turbo civic - live near a bad area myself... never could get sleep. I actually overheard 2 kids in a pool hall I was at talking about stealing my car.

LOL No. I left my 02 C5 in Camden for 12 hours unattended, not even a scratch on it... I left that thing anywhere and didn't think twice. Want to know why?
Thieves are usually from the hood, people don't own Vettes in the hood... no market to sell that stuff. Hondas/Toyotas there's a market for.

yep like on a few of the repo shows, looks like a standard diesel pickup but has the quick lift under the bed

I put a part in bold, italic, and underlined it as I see you missed it - or lack critical thinking skills. I used camden as ONE example of about 100 times I left that thing somewhere I WOULD NOT have left a turbo/modded civic.
Goto Corvetteforum or LS1tech, search for a corvette stolen thread, you'll probably find a few - do the same on ANY HONDA FORUM... i gaurentee the number goes up 10 fold AT LEAST.
THIEVES ARE USUALLY POOR (why else would they steal? poverty in most caes with few exceptions ) - POOR PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD CORVETTES OR DON'T BUY THEM. THIEVES USUALLY SELL LOCALLY
Honestly, how hard is this to understand? I've owned 2 C5s, no issues, my dads owned 3 corvettes, no issues. Plenty of people on this forum with corvettes - no issues.
So I'll say it with your own words

Critical thinking eh? Lets see...
Goto Corvetteforum or LS1tech, search for a corvette stolen thread, you'll probably find a few - do the same on ANY HONDA FORUM... i gaurentee the number goes up 10 fold AT LEAST.
Now I am gonna use some critical thinking here and say that there are more than '100 fold' the amount of hondas on the road then corvettes...
More critical thinking...
Honestly, how hard is this to understand? I've owned 2 C5s, no issues, my dads owned 3 corvettes, no issues. Plenty of people on this forum with corvettes - no issues.
My family has 8 Hondas in it, my friends drive them... Not one single car in my family has ever been stolen... None of my friends cars have ever been stolen... Honda or not.. Hmmmm....
You want to talk about some critical thinking? Take all the hondas on the road today, and then divide it by the amount of them stolen each year, and it doesn't even equal anything close to %1
THIEVES ARE USUALLY POOR (why else would they steal? poverty in most caes with few exceptions ) - POOR PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD CORVETTES OR DON'T BUY THEM. THIEVES USUALLY SELL LOCALLY
Ain't this some good information.... I am sure it has nothing to do with the simple fact that there are more Honda's on the roads then anything else.. Which means more people are willing to buy parts.... Nah im serious, I am sure the real reason is because they are poor... even though anyone with a part time job could make the payments on a c5...
94 Honda Accord is the most stolen car in the country... Do you know why? I can assure you its not because its a Honda.

There are many things wrong with this situation, but these two stick out to me....
A) why would u go to meets near New Brunswick? All the thieving scumbags from Newark all go to them to scout cars because they know theres lots of them near Rutgers.
B) Why would anyone drive a modded Honda anywhere near Franklin Park? it is a ****hole of the 1st degree, you could leave a shopping cart unattended there and some asshole would jack it.

You clearly have no idea how auto theft works in NJ. Sure there's the poor folk who carjack and whatnot, but the people who scout at meets are not them. Theft rings are a legitimate part of organized crime around here, the thieves are not poor, not by a long shot. These are well calculating, intelligent criminals we are talking about, not some idiot hoodlum jackin someone for their "nice whip". If they can make a profit they will take a car..... any car, even a Vette. They tend to target Hondas and Subarus though because of the high demand for parts though.
Take any turbo scoob to Menlo Park Mall and leave it there for a half hour. I can assure you it won't be there when you walk out, and all the security or police in the area will do is stall u cuz theyre in on the scam.
This stuff is much more than some poor sambo from the hood that you seem to think it is......those ppl are small time nobodies. My friend's WRX was stolen by those types, and he got the car back.....found in Newark with a blown clutch and a stolen radio. These other people, you never see the car again because they know what they are doing.

Vettes are actually easy to break into, but difficult to actually start and drive away without specific knowledge of the starting system
Same goes for most Honda's newer than 2000. - unless you are knowledgeable about the immobilizer systems and have the time to bypass everything, there's a slim chance of actually driving the car away.
Any car can be broken into, some easier than others, but if there's something a thief sees of value then it will soon be theirs.
So are there any updates on the car being found or any leads?

S2000's arent stolen often they normally have their tops cut and seats removed. Why is that the case? Because all the scum bags driving their pos fwd hondas love stuffing seats into their sh#$ box econo cars. As I am not a car thief I dont know if its difficult to steal a vette but I would imagine its the same as a s2000. Pop the lock swap the computer to ems and drive away.

not that easy. Engine ECU isn't in a quickly accessed area. The BCM under the passenger dash is, but it won't help you to swap just that since it talks to the engine ECU and PCM during start up. If VIN's don't match, security won't disable. Also the key is a VATS key, they'd need to bring along the proper matching key with them to bypass the immobilizer as well.
It's very difficult to quickly steal and drive away a vette, but most don't want the actual car, just what's in plain view....radios,gps, money, etc...

That's why I don't keep any of that in my car, minus the radio, but the OEM ones in the new Lancers are hard to take out if you don't know where to look to take surrounding trim pieces off.

It's the same with most Hondas '00+ such as the S2000, you need that vin encrypted "special" key - otherwise you're stuck dealing with the immobilizer.
Not all Honda's are ****box's without any fancy technology
Only downside is, most idiots out there openly post on forums how to bypass immobilizers.... makes it alot easier for any thief to access... especially in the Honda world

Actually slapping a ems in removes the immobilizer. No chip needed so thats why you just pop the lock and go. If you think that the thieves didnt figure that out long ago youre fooling yourself. If they want your car its gone whether its on a tow truck, driving away, or car jacked.

Oh, i'm well aware that if someone wants it- it's as good as theirs.
Hmm, find it odd that the s2000 would have everything together and that easy to remove vs other hondas.

Coulden't have said it better. Anyone who knows ''the person to call', Can call and within a few hours ANY car can be had for you for $2,000 cash in the NY/NJ area. There are people who do this, Who aren't poor (or well, Not poor anymore)... They normally own businesses or store-fronts that are just that, Fronts... To try and cover up all of this that is really taking place.
This happens ALOT more then you think, If you aren't firmiliar with it, Especially with car lots/groups who purchase salvage title cars that normally are VERY expensive to fix. They make a call, Have the same car but mint condition within hours, And strip it to re-assemble their salvage car. They then have a car that normally books for $50-100k, And have 10k into it total, You can see the profit from there even with a reconstructed title.
I have to agree with all of this. Central NJ and North NJ are hotbeds for organized-crime carjackings. There's been a lot of news articles in the local papers about the cops busting these theft rings and it gets worse every year despite the cops and the FBI cracking down--they won't ever go away.
When my mother's car got jacked back in 1994 from a medical complex parking lot in Union County, my dad went looking and found it 3 days later in Newark missing its engine, the baby seats, radio, steering column, and tires. So, there are those rats too.

That sounds like a really sh*tty/cheap alarm install if someone only needs to cut one wire to silence the horn for the alarm. Some newer factory alarms now use 3 horns and one of the horns can't be accessed without ripping out some interior panels. I figure that you can hook up an aftermarket system in a similar way.
