If someone can get it for around the price its at now and can do the bulk of the resto themselves they could make some money off of this. But if they would have someone else restore it, then it would have to be someone who loves the car and wants to keep it. In restored condition it'll be worth upwards of 30-40k.
Awesome car regardless. I've always loved this era benzs. Love when I see them at shows.

I've driven both the 6.3 and 6.9 versions. Back in the day my boss at the time owned a 6.3, then traded for a 6.9 and then got another 6.9 as an "investment" (never panned out back then). As a random data point not suggesting anything absolute, back in the 1970's I remember borrowing it for a weekend and taking out a GTO and 396 Chevelle, both good running cars, among others down on Darien St. in South Philly when that venue was at its prime.

My dad was pretty far in their PR department at the time and had a couple chances to buy some one off cars. He spent alot of time driving around foreign politicians from other countries (mostly germany) in these puppies. He also had 2 stretch 6.3 and a 6.9 stretch at his wedding in the mid 70s. Most thought he was a drug kingpin lol
He told me when the first 6.9 rolled off the shipping container from germany, the head engineer said, im going to stomp on the gas and watch what happens. It popped the two rear tires clear off the rim.
He also had a few of these at his house at a time, and he one time he said he was on 287 cruising, and a superbird came up next to him and he blew the ****ing doors off it. Turns out it was an undercover cop (and pulled him over) and he wanted to know what was under the hood
I think ill be getting into one of these in the next couple years. Something about these classic benz that i love. He also mentioned that most of the options on this car are actually not that rare, (ic, tray tables in the back and all) and that if you ever needed a wooden interior piece for the dash, that there was a number on the back, and in germany, there was a matching piece of wood with the SAME grain so that it wouldnt look out of place
I could go on for days about these cars, but i wont bore ya

awesome barn find, I have a friend out of state that does a lot of towing and junk removal and finds quite a few old classics. Just goes to show you that dreams are still out there, all you have to do is look for them.
