Hi all. I have recently had a SPEC 2+ clutch and SPEC single mass flywheel installed in my car along with a new slave cylinder.
Issue:
As i am engaging first gear or reverse from a dead stop their is a very noticeable groan/chirp/squeal. it seems to occur as the disc is hitting the flywheel. i have also noticed it a couple times when shifting in 2nd or 3rd and occasionally on a downshift.
I have been super careful during the bedding/break-in period to avoid any potential glazing. no dropping the clutch, hard shifts, laying off the boost (hardest part by far), no hard downshifts, no lugging, etc. SPEC recommends taking it easy for ~ 500 city miles driving. i am currently at about 700 miles with a mix of highway type driving and city type driving but still experiencing the noise.
I had contacted SPEC about this and they said it is "normal" during the bedding procedure and that it will disapate as material is transferred over.
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar during bedding/break-in of their SPEC clutch (or similar).
thanks in advance - any and all input is recommended and appreciated!

I run the same setup in my LGT. If I listen I can hear the disc start to engage, but it's just a low volume whirring sound.

Since you're over the break in period, put it in a high gear and put a heavy load on it. If you hear noise then, there's trouble.

Thanks JB. No noise at all once the clutch is engaged. it is only during the brief moment as the clutch is slipping into gear. most noticeable in 1st or R from a dead stop.

SPEC clutches suck and are known for being loud. Thats your problem.

based on some interweb sleuthing it looks like you are spot on with this response. Squeal or noise upon engagement seems to be a common problem with the SPEC clutches.
Unfortunately for me - SPEC is the only company currently making performance clutch for my car.
sigh....

The good news is atleast you know there is 'nothing wrong' with it.
