So I've been having a couple problems with my vehicular automotive.
I currently own an 89 civic with a d15b and it's mpfi. For the past couple weeks, when I start the car up, the rpms shoot to 4k and hold for a split sec then steadily decrease till the car shuts off... unless i continuously blip the throttle.
Another problem, every blue moon when I go to start the car, I get noffin'. I have all power and everything but I get no clicks and it doesn't try to turn itself over. Someone mentioned bad ignition switch.. which I'd rather it be that then something grounding with my wiring >.>

It is probally one of those cheap fixes that are a pain to find.
Clean your MAF and TB? I'd also check over your vac lines just to be safe. They can be bastards.
As far as not always getting power to the starter, check your replay and make sure the line from the battery to the starter has clean ends for solid contact of lightning bolts.

should be it, good luck
or the battery is too low to power the pump.

Have you searched on honda-tech?

Sounds like fuel issue. I had the samething happen. Does the car at least crank? I seafoamed the gas tank and the intake vac lines. Changed the fuel filter and it has never run better. Prob water or something in the tank.

ECU maybe? vac lines seem like a pretty good cause as well

Check your main relay for your no power issue

Ok never mind you said it cranks.

Its not the main relay. The car would still crank with a bad relay. Its the ignition switch. Or a ground or signal wire. Only things that would stop it from cranking periodically. As far as the random idle problem, might be a bad iac valve? Or a FITV? Not sure if u have one tho.

Guessing guessing guessing...when it doesnt start go to the basic. Fuel, spark, time compression. Scientifically eliminate all possibilities or find a good tech to guide you. if you need help PM me.I'd be glad to talk this over and help you out.

as much as you think your being helpful (which we all appreciate) you need to read what she actually wrote. She said that when she tried to start it, nothing happened. Nothing means nothing. Not even a cranking noise. That is not a fuel spark issue. Not trying to be a douche at all. Just making sure you read it right

I agree with this.

another symptom to add, the idle likes to hand every ones in a while, as in when I take the car out of any gear and put it into neutral, the RPM's do not drop.. they are steady and stay the same as if I didn't not shift at all.

Your rpms would only hold at the rpm range if your throttle was stuck open. Since it works on a vacuum.
I would just take apart the whole intake manifold and rebuild it, and see what the deal is.
Complicated to diagnose over the internet

Vaccum in general can cause your idle to hold high... like the FITV. Had that issue on my h22. But not sure if the JDM motor you have comes with them. jim is right. Usually idle problems come from the intake manifold. So I would start there. Tell Bryan to bring it over some day and we can check it out.
