Already signed up and hopefully it will not be cold. I might run the SRT-4 instead of the RX-7. Where is the spring weather? lol

Well according to weather.com's incredibly inaccurate 10 day, it's looking like 56 degrees and Sunny for the 1st.

whoa...tempting...will a stock SRT-4 be allowed to run in this? Is it a solo run?

whoa...tempting...will a stock SRT-4 be allowed to run in this? Is it a solo run?Absolutely. You run against the clock, they release one car every 20 - 30 seconds onto the course. The club has loaner helmets, so all you need is a drivers licsense and if you are under 18, you need both parents to sign the minor waiver.

Sounds good. How far from philly is this event anyway? I've been seriously tempted to take the plunge and do some SCCA events. It seems like a ton of fun.
I'm 22, so no need for those pesky parents.

It's about an hour south of Philly. Your stock SRT-4 would be classed in DS (D-stock) which runs in the PM session, so you would need to be there from about 11am - 5pm. The only prep you need to do is empty everything out of the car, so there's nothing rattling around while you are on course, and check your tire pressure. Entry fee is $25 for SCCA members and $35 for non-members. It's a lot of fun, and a safe and legal place to practice your skid control & really push the limits of your tires.
Let me know if you have any questions.

You sound knowledgable...and after reading some of the stuff on the site, I'd be willing to pay for a fun-ride with you, if I make it down.
I missed about a week of work so my paycheck just covered the car payment this month. And I don't get payed till the week after the event, and I still need some cash for my trip to the SRT Experience out in Beaver Run.
So, unless I can "borrow" :help: money from my parents I won't make it.
When will be the next area event? How much gas should I have in the tank for such an event?
I'm definatly interested in giving this a try. Just might not be this time, unfortunatly.

Hey jeff i didn't know you ventured out of jersey??I rarely venture into Jersey. :bigeek: I drove ridiculous lenths last season to autocross. Let me see if I can remember all of the different places I went last season.
Philly Region (Boeing, Warminster, Ripken)
South Jersey Region (Atco)
North Jersey Region (Englishtown)
Susquehanna Region (Hershey)
Autocrossers Inc. (Ripken)
The M club (NYC - Meadowlands)
Divisional (WDC - Fedex field)
National Tour (Toledo, OH)
National Championship (Topeka, KS)
Barry, take off those snow tires and come on out.

I'm definatly interested in giving this a try. Just might not be this time, unfortunatly. You don't have to pay to be a passenger. I usually run with about 1/4 tank of gas. I've only starved it for fuel once and that was way below E. We'll be back up at Warminster Community Park on April 23, with a novice school on April 21 - 22.
In the SRT experience, do you run your car or theirs? Someday I'll go out to Beaver Run for a track day... As soon as my autocross obsession subsides. :wiggle:

you run every SRT vehicle... and get professional instruction from Skip Barber Instructors, and a ride with one of the instructors in the Viper
That's Saturday in april...23rd I think? Leaving the friday before, staying over night. It's like an 8 hour drive from philly... but I'm bringing a buddy so we'll switch off...if I let him drive.
He's participating too, but he's paying the $300 entry fee. I get in for free, but have to pay for a room.

Well it looks like I may not be coming down on Saturday, unless the weather is looking extra good that is. Our first event of the season was supposed to be 3/25, but it was post poned for some reason, and I just found out last night it was moved to April 2nd. So, I guess we'll see what happens.

i wish i could make it down to VIR for that weekend :(....the drive is just so damn far, i think i'm only going to be able to make it to 1 or 2 events this season down there

Ripken is about an hour south of philly (in the morning w/o traffic).
Is anybody interested in the Philly Region Novice School April 21st - 23rd?
It's limited to 30 entrants, costs $120 and includes a friday classroom session, saturday in-car instruction and sundays competition.

Where is the one on the 23rd? I'll be at the SRT Experience the day before, so I may not have the energy. But I'd come and watch, or ride with someone :supz:
