Ok, I have not run an auto-x in about two years. I have been doing a lot of spec Miata racing as well as track days in the vette here and there. I have the itch to get back out and try it in some auto-x

Mods would prob disqualify me from potential classes:

-LGM G2 Coilovers
-T1 sway bars w/ adjustable end links

-CCW Classic's with:
285/18's front
305/18's rear
(toyo r888's)
-RPS twin disc clutch
-MGW Short Shifter
-Halltech intake
-Borla cat back
So where do you guys think I fall?

Coilovers will bump you up 1 class automatically, everything else combined, might bump you up 1 more class.

(the Car is an 01 C5 Z06)

Yea, I have some people telling me that I fall into ASP, and others saying that because of the swap of the leafs for coilovers(they use OEM mounting points) that I fall into SSM

This is from the allowed modifications within the Street Mofidied (SM) Class :

E. Suspension components are unrestricted as long as they use the
original attachment points. For the purposes of this rule, “suspension”
is defined as any item that is designed to move when a wheel
is deflected vertically. This includes shocks and struts, control arms,
steering knuckles, uprights, etc., but not tie rods, steering racks, and
subframes. In addition, shock absorber/strut upper mounts are to be
considered suspension components.

Looks like changing your suspension would throw you into a SM category such as your stated SSM.

I dont believe that you could run any sort of Street Prepared class (ASP) since the suspension modifications allowed beyond that of the Stock class is as follows (from the SCCA rule book) :

15.5 SHOCK ABSORBERS
Vehicles may only exceed the allowances of 13.5 as specified herein.
A. Shock absorber bump stops may be altered or removed.
B. On cars with lever-type shock absorbers, a tube-type shock absorber
may be added. If the lever-type shock serves no other purpose, it
must be removed. If the lever-type shock serves any other purpose,
it must be retained.
15. STREET PREPARED CATEGORY — 97
C. Any shock absorbers may be used. Shock absorber mounting brackets
which serve no other purpose may be altered, added or replaced,
provided that the attachment points on the body/ frame/subframe/
chassis/suspension member are not altered. The installation may
incorporate an alternate upper spring perch/seat and/or mounting
block (bearing mount). The system of attachment may be changed.
The number of shock absorbers shall be the same as Stock. No
shock absorber may be capable of adjustment while the car is in motion,
unless fitted as original equipment. MacPherson strut equipped
cars may substitute struts, and/or may use any insert. This does not
allow unauthorized changes in suspension geometry or changes in
attachment points (e.g., affecting the position of the lower ball joint
or spindle). It is intended to allow the strut length changes needed to
accommodate permitted modifications which affect ride height and
suspension travel. This allowance differs from Improved Touring Allowance
9.1.3.D.5.b.1.

Sounds like any type of shock may be used but not that you can change from OEM equipment such as your car coming with leaf springs and not shocks(coilovers). These build on the Stock category rules. I would go in SSM but talk to the guys to see if they think you can better fit into another class.

Like Simmons said, definitely an ASP car.

SJR has one event left on Sunday Nov 13th. There's another ASP Z06 that's been running with us all season, so you'll at least have one other competitor in class.

Hope to see you there (and anyone else)! http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=118834
