I can't tell you how many times I've had a mustang guy rev his engine at me... and to tell the truth, I've let a stang hear my blow off on occasion too...

sure its the NA, big displacement, RWD guys vs the big turbo, small displacement, AWD guys... but we're all enthusiasts right?

Haha thanks Lj for that. Yeah I'm that .01% that are not dicks. I give respect to whatever you got and what you are doing with it. I don't even rev my car at other peoples imports or domestics haha. The few that do own mustangs on this site are pretty cool as well.

honestly..i have had 3 mustangs and been on their forums though not posting often at all for a while...most of the guys on those forums are d*cks....but some are cool as hell...most of the guys who are arrogant assh*les will never change and realize that its cool as long as you share the same passion for cars as they do...what can we do...lol

They are completely ignorant to the fact that another company may have figured out to make a car faster than theirs. Then they get their asses handed to them by a 4cyl and wonder why. I was not aiming my comment to only mustang drivers....but to all 'car guys' believe me...i know that there are a-holes like I described in EVERY group. I used the SRT-4 as an example because when it came into the picture it surprised a LOT of people. So no offense taken.

i get that all the time from mustangs, camaros, and vette's, this one guy thought he was cool in his mustang with his G/F in it, and we were at the light on 202, right b4 the highway, and he starts revving his engine at me, so I'm like what the hell, smoked him by like 4 cars lengths by 80 so I slowed down and he pulls up to me trying to pull again and I jus shake my head and get off

but I'm with the one mustang owner that there are people like this in every car group, I've had VW's bother me the other night, but I'll respect the car and owner if they work on their own car, know stuff bout their car, and don't act like a ****y jackass revving their engine and trying to show off

people have to realize more so...as much as you make your car faster or more powerful...what does it really matter in the end..besides your personal taste..who cares what someone else thinks..its a matter of respect really and some people respect everyone and some people dont...this goes for everyone though like i said before

I looked around on a GTO forum once and was surprised the quality of their membership. The same can be said about a few other forums I've been on.

What I've been noticing is that the groups with a majority of decent people usually involved newer car models... domestic, suv....

I owned afew mustangs and lightnig, the last being a SWEET black Roush stage 3. I was on afew forums and posted afew evos toasting some cars. Most people on those forums could not believe that an EVO or STi was able to run into the 12's with VERY little money, let alone low 11's with an evo and $1-2k. They had no idea what these cars were capable of. Weird.
There are more suby and evo owners than GTo and probably moded stang owners thus the percentage on dopes goes up, alot.
wrx and evo are ofter (not always) younger and thus will have more ignorant, ****y, immature , testosterone raging folks. almost same for stang.

My best friend has a mustang and he's a total dick to everyone else with a car. But a guy I work with has a mustang cobra and he's pretty cool. Seems to vary from driver to driver. Also like someone else mentioned, its the same in all car groups.

this also may be true, but you have to keep in mind that the GTO crowd is going to be significantly more mature than mustang or civic/import crowds because they are simply older. Because there was such a gap in the production years of the GTO, most GTO owners are older guys (50+) who can finally afford the car that made them drop their jaw back in the 60s and 70s. They are gonna have more money, be more humble and overall act more maturely. There are always exceptions of course.

go to www.modularfords.com and you will see that it is the same over there as whatever gto forum you are talking about. The TECH sites seem to be for CAR PEOPLE. If you compare modfords to www.svtperformance.com, you will understand EXACTLY what I am talking about. Also, the last time I was on an NSX forum they were pretty good too. Same is true the last time I was on a Supra forum and Lotus forum.

This use to be true for DSMs too. Although there are way too many of them now it is hard to keep track. And some of them are kind of going down hill.

Found this thread looking for a vid but thought I'd chime in even though it's been dead 15 days.
In the begining (around 1990 sometime )you had the Ford vs GM guys, you had some import guys but they were far and few between and support for them in the speed parts department was 0.
Then the import boom happened.
Lots of new people on race scene and because it was pretty new a large portion of them were clueless.
Seeing highly modified cars in movies everyone with a vtec or turbo thought they could go V8 hunting.
I can't even think of how many "The surgeon general never said anything about not smoking V8's" bumper stickers I saw on the back of high milage CRX's bellowing black smoke as they putt along.
It became the goal of everyone with a 4cyl to go out and beat a V8 to prove something.
Everytime I used to talk to one of these enthusiasts and asked them what "goal" they had in mind for there car the answer was always "I want to beat mustangs and camaros"
For the longest time the mustang was a bench mark for imports to test themselves on.
Let me tell ya, it gets tired an old real fast when every 4 cyl on the road wants to race you, you get real sick of it.
The mustang guys didn't start it.
We never said "hey we have something to prove by beating on 4cyl economy cars"
If a V8 did get beat by a turbo 4 or whatever all you would hear is what a piece of crap a domestic is for a car to be beat by one with half the cylanders blah blah blah
never a "hey, good race"
Things are much better nowadays, people are more informed, there are so many fast imports that mustangs and camaros arnt used as the bench marks any more, the support for imports is so great that almost any combo you can run has been done and there are dynos and timeslips to back it all up instead of benchracing and smack talking guestimates.
I think for the most part if mustang guys are arrogant it's just because we have a bad taste in our mouth from the import boom first happened.
Had it not been for the F&F movies, if the import scene slowly evolved rather then become trendy overnight we would have been spared alot of animosity between the domestic import groups.
