New Camera

hey guys, just picked up my first camera ever and im pretty stoked. Its a canon T1i which i was lucky enough to pick up for free. As a completely new photographer do you all have any tips or things i should check out? I read the manual and all but i would appreciate any help at all

Go out, shoot pictures, and don't think too much. That will come later, believe me. If you see a picture you like, ask how someone took it and don't be timid. Photographers love talking about their stuff, believe me on that one too.

Always shoot raw.

Learn to use the M setting.

Should be a good starting point. All I got. T1i is a good camera.

experiment with settings. learn how aperture and shutter effects photos. the internet is your best friend, and can look up or get tips on anything.
