I'm in the levittown area and need a experienced Honda person to help me out with my vtec on my built motor. For some reason its not working. I have tried almost everything. Changed out solenoids, wiring, oil pressure is good etc.... maybe I'm missing something really stupid. I can pick up food and drinks if somebody can help me out. I've been on here for awhile an people can vouch for my experience already. So I need someone with more experience.
Just shoot me a text 267-980-5312

What kind of ECU are you running?

S300 tuned by Rt tuning. They couldn't figure out why vtec is not engaging. I'm starting to think it is and the tune is just not right. When it hits the parameters for vtec it just breaks up really bad. Like spark blow out. When I disable vtec it doesn't break up throughout the whole rpm range.

I think you are right, it does sound like vtec is engaging. When is the crossover set? Have you double checked your mechanical timing?

Mine was odin the same thing. Check thru hondata and actually see if when it reaches the crossover point if everything changes. If it does then vtec is engagin. If the tunes off u may just not know

Well I datalogged and it says vtec pressure and spool engaged. So I guess I need to check to make sure voltage is reaching the vtec. After that I know its working. Then its either tune or something else. I just switched the 3rd vtec solenoid onto the car and the break up went away. Not sure if its because its broke or if its working lol. My head hurts.

check your speedo cable. vtec would not hit in my old ef hatch and it was cause the speedo cable was broken. idk if your car has the cable of speed sensor. did you check anything like this.

i know whats required for vtec to work... oil pressure, the signal, minimun speed set by my s300, throttle positon etc. Im thinking its working and RT was just experiencing a severe case of spark blowout or very weak spark. I have since replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil. Plugs are gapped pretty tight tho i can't remember off the top of my head how tight they are. Im guessing somewhere around .024ish. doesn't help that my wideband isn't working at this moment.

Did you get it working? Have you tried a stock ecu, to see if vtec is engaging?
