I need to upgrade the stock speakers in my 92 MX3... as you can imagine, they aren't great :P. The front and rear size is 5.25". I've been looking online, but my knowledge is complete crap.

What I listen to mainly is euro dance music (GAY, I know), techno, and dub step. I also listen to rock, punk and metal as well, but only about 20% of the time.

I did some research on 2-way and 3-way speakers -- I'm fine with sticking with 2-way as I'm not super picky. I thought about a sub, but I really don't want the hassle of a box on my car so I don't want one. I actually have 2 Infinity subs that I can use... but that's my last resort.

I want something with nice mids and highs up front for clarity. For the rear, I want something that has good lows.

I can get powerbass through my work, I just know nothing about them. I had infinities in my 2.5RS and I loved them, but I don't want to go as expensive again. Essentially, what I'm looking for is to buy four speakers around $100-$120. Can anyone recommend anything?

Thank you

From experience most of the time you get what you pay for. Online you should be able to get a set of type s's for about that.

Polk should be fine.

get a set of component speakers for the front, and a good set of 2 or 3 (or even 4 lol) way speakers for the rear and see how it sounds. You're going to need to amp at least the components, but its worth it to spend the extra money and get a 4 channel amp to power all 4 speakers. If you dont amp the components they will blow pretty quickly. A sub would basically round out the car and make it a pretty bangin system. you can do it for cheap if you shop around.

car audio is an investment. dont skimp out!

Thanks for the advice. I'll be making my purchase sometime this weekend and I will be running a single sub to help out with the lows in the rear in place of the spare tire (I don't carry it anyways) and picking up decent fronts for now and decent rears until I get more money.

Thanks!

Brand wise, you will be good with kicker, polk, eclipse, inifnity, in that order. Like Dan said you can go with components in the front and 2,3 way speakers in the rear. One of the things people overlook most is the importance of a good head unit, make sure its up to par.

I got the cheapest head unit I could with an aux port for my iphone haha. As you can tell, sweet kick ass sound isnt a must for me, i'm down for decent sound.

I would do nice comps up front and the rear I would do a mid or two way and cross it over a little lower and just for rear fill
