Im thinking about selling my Jl stealth box which holds 2 10w3's, will I gain anything out of this. You know the whole theory of any electrical device drawing more power from your battery, therefore stealing power that could go to the engine.
( tryin to sell so that I have money to tune the U-TEC im buyin)

weight savings is about it.

I dont think it will add any significant horsepower, I never really bought into the whole 'grounding' issue. Most say that it makes the car run smoother, and rev faster...but its not worth the cost of the kits IMO.

You can make a homemade kit for around 20 bucks. Just ask teh-dirt.

As for the subs making more power? Nah, but less weight is always better.

yea your only gonna save weight really. Your subs may drain some power but not enough to lost like horsepower. if it is probably like .05 HP LoL

jon its the weight of those subs are not nearly anything to gain u any power either electrical or weight.. if anything ull gain. .00001 of a second.. but take it to the track and find out..

Weight makes a difference...

subs are HEAVY...mike fraims subs weighed like 60-70lbs...easy. 60-70lbs will make a difference combined with some other weight savings mods. I can definitely tell a difference when an extra person is in the car, or when I am carrying even a small load of crap in the trunk.

yea well his subs(mtx) are made for just having in a car. jons are sepcifly fit to save room. but there not THAT heavy to make a difference i think.

truthfully u'll see a lil difference, not enough to feel but if u took it to the track thumping like mad with those subs, then ran it again, u'd notice a gain of bout .01-.1, possibly, i don't know how hard u rock them, but when i was at ATC we tested this theory on a dyno doing pulls and it made about 10-15hp difference, the weight will help too but i heard for every like 400lbs u save .1 of ur time, so in all ends, it'll will add up both ways

why would the car feel any different at the track? If I take something out of my car that is that big, I notice---be it at the track or wherever

im talkin for times.. when ur just driving and u take out subs u really not notice a difference. but when ur at the track and u run a time EX. 11.9 with subs. then run a time out subs EX 11.7.. that you would notice.. but not for everyday driving..

I think I would notice....blindfold me and I bet I could tell if a sub was in my trunk or not. Maybe you wouldnt, but I would.

i not sayin i wont notice the differene, im sayin track wise u will notice a difference BC OF THE TIMES.. everyday drivng or street racing YOU WILL NOT notice the difference as in it wouldnt matter if the subs are there or not.

i dont know if this is right but i heard its something like 10 hp for every 100 pounds

General rule of thumb is 10hp or 100lbs = .1 at the track. This is usually about right for average cars, say 12-15sec cars. As you get faster it gets harder to keep going faster, so the gains diminish. And decreasing rotating weight (wheels, brakes, etc.) will give you bigger gains than static weight.

Like Bad 360, I really don't think you can notice between a 13.2 run and a 13.3. Some may argue in a RWD car that the subs help keep weight over the tires. Taking them out in my opinion is not worth losing the sound they produce.

weight doesnt add Hp it makes car lighter with same hp witch yes would be faster but not add additional hp

WRXD

you are correct...physically you would have no more horsepower, but the car would accelerate faster because the weight is lower. Less weight to overcome friction and gravity= better acceleration

Reduce both sprung and unsprung weight when you can. (If you want).
