I talked to the guys boy when I was at Atco and they were a bunch of ****y ****s.
I was asking this kid in a black Evo what he had done and he was ****y as ****, he goes hardly anything and rambled off tons of ****. He went 12.3 FULLY gutted with race gas in the trunk. He asked what I ran I said 11.98 full weight on only 15.5PSI. He buddy goes you should race the S4, im liek it goes 11.1 in a fully stripped race car...what an ass.
My brothers sisters aunts mom has a faster car than you.... :roll:

Dude with the camera who was with the s4 and evo were cool to me. Maybe they don't like 4 door sunfires greg :wink: ...hahaha. When I went 12.26 I lined up against the no interior evo. Think he went 12.7 not sure of his mods. Nice run either way.

i think i saw that guy at atco before. fully gutted s4, the kid/guy had ratty hair and smelled of petrouli oil. i really though he/the car was the ****. i saw him burn the **** out of his clutch the one run and asked him about it (kind of made fun of him a little about it)- he said "yeah it slipped a little bit but then it recovered" :rofl: . the goddam car hit the rev limiter in first gear from the clutch slipping. he didn't ruin it but im surprised.
i believe he was running mid 11's at this point, or it also could be a different s4 i dunno. im pretty sure the guy i talked to was from ny.

Nothing could be further from the truth, as I currently have less than $20,000 in itincluding what I paid for the car itself. Sure you could go quicker for less money with a Mustang, F-Body, SBC, RWD Mopar, or even a DSM, but I like the S4 because it's something different and not every day that you see a fast one.

My brothers sisters aunts mom has a faster car than you.... :roll:First, I'd like to apologize for my friend's attitude at the track. I'm pretty sure you're referring to the guy with the black hat? If so, he has a lot of growing up to do sometimes. He's not the owner of the black Evo, but was probably doing all of the talking for him.
The black Evo with no wing has an HKS RS Intake, Buschur Turboback Exhaust, 21-22psi of boost, and approximately 250lbs of weight reduction. It also has a UTEC but it has never been tuned. It was his first time ever at a track and with a sh!tty 1.8 60ft, he ran a 12.3@113 on pump gas. With some cams, race gas, and a tune, he should be in the mid 11's. BTW, the VP Racing jugs in his trunk are mine and they were empty.
As for my S4 being a fully stripped race car... That's your opinion and also the opinion of others, but I disagree... Despite the weight reduction, this car is still used as my daily driver. I've driven it in its current form to and from Philly, Ocean City, and FL. Since it still runs a factory ECU (no engine management whatsoever), it offers great driveability with no quirks and gets a true 30MPG on the highway if you take it easy in 6th gear. It's far from a single purpose drag car in that it also turns and brakes too. I always drive the car to Atco and have never trailered it to the track. In fact, the car has not been on a trailer once since I've owned it. While it may be considered a race car to some, it's not a race car to me. I've had dozens of street races with it, some of which were for well over $1,000 a race. You could make the argument that it's a race car which I'm crazy enough for driving on the street, but it's still a street car to me.
BTW, there are still several hundred pounds left to be taken out... Every panel on the car except the hood and trunklid is still steel. The windshield, back light, and all side windows are still OEM glass. It still has ABS, power door locks, power brakes, power steering, and a full factory wiring harness which is extremely heavy. By the end of the year, I'm hoping to have another 200lbs out of this car.

My S4 is still running the OEM gas tank. Not sure what you saw in the trunk, but there shouldn't have been really much of anything in there. :wink:

I miss it, but I am building another car which should be out in the summer.
As for racing... I probably wouldn't be foolish enough to run it with the Audi, but I'm sure I too could get a friend's car to run him for some cash. Let me know.

Yep, if I try to launch my S4 a little too high, the OEM RS4 clutch slips on the launch. It ALWAYS recovers. I've been running this same clutch for years and it has hundreds and hundreds of launches on it.

dont have any recent pics of it but some people on here know the car...its an 85GN converted over to a 87motor...rebuilt in my garage with the basic bolt ons and ran on pump gas...if your ever around TR im out on weekends with it

i saw the blue one that was completly gutted- foam/ sound deadening hanging off of the door panels from a sloppy uninstall of the carpet and deadening. certainly took away the "luxury" from any car, needless to say an s4. im going to agree with evil egl- why gut THAT car? ruining a perfectly good interior that you PAY FOR buying the car. i'd have no problem gutting a gm interior (sans the awesome stereo) or a dsm interior, or a srt4/wrx/ etc... but not a s4. seems like a waste of good engineering. i don't see too many gutted supras :wink: , and the reason could be that the interior is too nice and the car can make the power to make up for the 200lbs saved in butchering the interior to all hell- same as the s4.

Just a question, did you strip the AC out? did it help at all? i NEVER use my AC and the damn thing is like 30 pounds and runs off a belt... just seeing if it is worth it.

I don't care how you drive your s4 around to Philly or fl or wherever you go. Why not make enough power to LEAVE your interior in the car...like it was desgined?I'm a strong proponent of weight reduction for the following reasons:
1) It not only greatly improves acceleration, but cornering, braking, and fuel economy are all improved as well.
2) Weight reduction removes stress off of parts that are vulnerable to failure, i.e., a lighter car will be more reliable than a heavier car at the same power level.
3) Unlike most engine mods, weight reduction makes the car faster at EVERY RPM; not just at a narrow RPM range such as with bigger turbos, hotter cams, etc.
4) It frees up cash since the parts removed for weight reduction can be sold.
5) Weight reduction (in my case) makes the car go quicker and faster for less money than making more power.
I'd take weight reduction over horsepower any day of the week. With that said, one could just as easily counter your argument by saying "why not leave the engine alone... like it was designed?"

Go fast with everything In the car, It shows you have more skill and power.Some ladies like fun and fast cars, not boring slow cars with all the luxuries blah blah blah. I hate all that crap. When my car was full weight, it ran a best of 11.8 and it was quiet, smooth, and BORING. Since ripping all the weight out, the car has become a totally different beast... Much more fun to drive, especially in the lower gears.

i saw the blue one that was completly gutted- foam/ sound deadening hanging off of the door panels from a sloppy uninstall of the carpet and deadening. certainly took away the "luxury" from any car, needless to say an s4. im going to agree with evil egl- why gut THAT car? ruining a perfectly good interior that you PAY FOR buying the car. i'd have no problem gutting a gm interior (sans the awesome stereo) or a dsm interior, or a srt4/wrx/ etc... but not a s4. seems like a waste of good engineering. i don't see too many gutted supras :wink: , and the reason could be that the interior is too nice and the car can make the power to make up for the 200lbs saved in butchering the interior to all hell- same as the s4.
jmho anyway.Oh, when you saw the car it was likely still a work in progress. Since then, all the foam, sound deadening, etc. is long gone.
I've made thousands and thousands of dollars from ripping sh!t out of the car for weight reduction. I'm talking the ricey two tone alcantara interior (which I couldn't stand anyway), the door panels, the airbags, etc, etc. which fetched an obscene amount of money. I really don't give a **** because the car is well past the point of no return right now. The good thing is I don't have much money in the car at all... A little less than $20K right now and that includes what I paid for the car back in 03. I'll be going GT28RS x 2 in a few months along with an Autronic standalone. Gonna try to get this heap into the 9's on a budget.
BTW, I've taken out a lot more than 200lbs. If you want any of the "good engineering" interior parts, let me know... I still have some sh!t leftover. Since you like it so much, perhaps you could use some of it in your Firechicken? Let me know.

The car had different software and fueling back then. With my current setup, the car would probably run 11.5 to 11.6 full weight right now. Was it worth gutting out the car for that extra half a second? To me, it was... I enjoy the car much more right now. It's much more fun to drive. It's faster. It handles way better. Plus, I have a lot more cash from all the parts I was able to unload.
What you still seem to be missing is there's a way to voice your opinion without insulting somebody or their car (re: "garbage on the inside"). Since you continue to do this over and over again, I stand by my belief that you're just JEALOUS. I don't see any other motivation behind your blatant disrespect and insults.

Working on them is Overpriced and not cost effective. a full catback for an s4 pushes close to 5k. I can take my full weight DSM and go low 11's with 5k.
Interior wise an s4 surpasses a 1990 Eagle talon...but it should...but since you don't have one anymore...I guess mine isn't so bad. But see i'm a simple guy who doens't like flashy things...I love my interior in my Talon it suits me just fine. and yeah it squeaks and rattles a little bit.
But after taking a ride in my friends 03 350z and notcing more road nosie and rattle in his NEWER car than in my 16 year old ****box...It made me love my car that much more. Being as there probably isn't much left of your interior i doubt it rattles much...but road noise would bother me...unless you just get crazy exhaust drone. But see when i'm driving I like to be able to think straight.

Making it seem like it's so easy to rip out a few pieces from the interior of a car that runs 14.0 stock and then run 11.0's with it. That it takes no effort to do that... Well if it's so easy to knock off 3 full seconds off a car's 1/4 mile time without any effort, why don't you go out and do it? Post the videos up while you're at it. :roll:
FYI, you don't realize the intricacies involved with weight reduction... It's a lot more difficult than you think. For example, if you take too much weight out of one part of the car, you can disturb the weight distribution of the car.
Weight reduction entails more than just gutting out the car... A large part of is also replacing parts with lighter parts, such as wheels, brakes, sway bar, hood, trunk lid, etc. When I decided to get a carbon fiber hood, I made sure I got the lightest one possible for the lowest possible price. I scoured the forums and Ebay for a long time to get my custon one off fiberglass trunklid for next to nothing. All along the way, everybody on the forums made fun of me, saying "oh wow, you saved 15lbs with that mod. Big deal, why don't you just go on a diet? Hahahaha." Then those SAME people who laughed at me for doing such seemingly trivial weight reduction here and there were the same ones (like you) who SLAMMED me for going fast with the car, saying it's only fast because of the weight reduction blah blah blah. It's funny how they thought it was all a joke until they saw the end result in which case they then said just the opposite of what they were saying before... What hypocrites.
5lbs here and 5lbs there adds up fast. I never take anything for granted. In the end, it all paid off as the car runs 11.0 with primarily off the shelf OEM Audi parts. So yeah, of course it would be difficult to go 11.0 with the horsepower mods I have had it not been for the weight reduction. Nobody ever said the weight reduction didn't do anything... Of course it did. But this is the reason why the car runs 11.0 with a bone stock motor. And when I say bone stock motor, I mean stock compression ratio, no strokers, no motor swaps, no nitrous, no power adders other than what it came with from the factory... stock heads, stock cams, stock bottom end, stock internals, stock exhaust manifolds, OEM Audi Turbos, etc, etc. Just wait until I build up the motor and run a real set of turbos. :drag:

Where do you come up with these silly ideas? A catback for the S4 can be bought for as cheap as $400 to $500 BRAND NEW. Borla makes a nice one for that price and it comes with a lifetime warranty. Unless you mean a TURBOBACK exhaust meaning downpipes? Yes, the downpipes for the S4 are ridiculously overpriced. Not $5K, but they are around $1000. But there are lots of ways around that... You can buy the car with the downpipes and a lot of the other mods already done like I did... A modded S4 rarely brings that big of a premium over a stock S4, so you can really get good value if you buy the car with some of the mods already done. Or, you can get the downpipes used. I bought my APR downpipes with test pipes and high flow cats for $500 shipped from a guy selling them on the classifieds. I thought they were used but they were actually brand new. Keep in mind that since the car is twin turbo, you have a DOUBLE of a lot of things... TWO downpipes, for example, not just one like you'd have with the DSM. This is another reason why the downpipes cost a lot for the S4.
If you think it's so easy to go low 11's with your DSM, why don't you go ahead and do it instead of talking about it? If you can go low 11's in your full weight DSM for $5K, I will respect that and give you props. From my experiences with DSMs, I'd say it will cost you a bit more than that, but by all means go ahead and try.
I could care less about interiors, rattles or exhaust drones. My car is fast, fun and stone axe reliable and that's all I care about. If I cared about luxury and all that other BS I obviously wouldn't have gutted the car out. But you only live once and I have a blast driving and racing this car.

I believe he ran a 10.8 at Atco a week or two ago but from what I've heard, the car isn't very consistent at all. What do you think? More ignorance and narrow mindedness on your part. A full catback for the S4 does NOT push close to 5k. Where do you come up with these silly ideas? A catback for the S4 can be bought for as cheap as $400 to $500 BRAND NEW. Borla makes a nice one for that price and it comes with a lifetime warranty. Unless you mean a TURBOBACK exhaust meaning downpipes? Yes, the downpipes for the S4 are ridiculously overpriced. Not $5K, but they are around $1000. But there are lots of ways around that... You can buy the car with the downpipes and a lot of the other mods already done like I did... A modded S4 rarely brings that big of a premium over a stock S4, so you can really get good value if you buy the car with some of the mods already done. Or, you can get the downpipes used. I bought my APR downpipes with test pipes and high flow cats for $500 shipped from a guy selling them on the classifieds. I thought they were used but they were actually brand new. Keep in mind that since the car is twin turbo, you have a DOUBLE of a lot of things... TWO downpipes, for example, not just one like you'd have with the DSM. This is another reason why the downpipes cost a lot for the S4.
If you think it's so easy to go low 11's with your DSM, why don't you go ahead and do it instead of talking about it? If you can go low 11's in your full weight DSM for $5K, I will respect that and give you props. From my experiences with DSMs, I'd say it will cost you a bit more than that, but by all means go ahead and try.
I could care less about interiors, rattles or exhaust drones. My car is fast, fun and stone axe reliable and that's all I care about. If I cared about luxury and all that other BS I obviously wouldn't have gutted the car out. But you only live once and I have a blast driving and racing this car.
well mid 12's can be accomplished in under 2k...With 3 more to play with I think I can get it to low 11's.
I have nothing to prove to anyone...but I'll keep everyone on here posted about my prgogress trying to hit "low 11's"

You can keep everyone posted about your progress, but is progress really required to run low 11's? You just said before that going 11.0 in an Audi requires nothing more than removing some interior pieces... no effort needed, right? So then in a DSM you must be able to do even easier!

Either way i don't think it is logical to build a car that is maxed out at a certain time. What i mean is there are evos stis talons eclipses so on and so forth running 9's how many s4's are running 9's better yet 10's. Once again i am not bashing your car i don't get it. The only logical reason would we you wanted a luxury car that is fast but when you gut a car you kind defeats that purpose. Anyway just curious of your reasoning. First off we all need to relax. There is no need for haters. 10secS4 has a nice car that is fast. Not sure if we met before at the Franklin Mills Mall or not... I brought a couple people to the BLVD later that night to meet up with some buddies (Supra, yellow convertible vette, etc) on the BLVD.
I'm just a hater of Insane weight reduction. Go fast with everything In the car, It shows you have more skill and power.
Not true. More than anything it means you have a lot more money, lol. You need more power to go faster, obviously, but even with a DSM, you are going to start busting parts trying to hit low 11s without any kind of weight reduction or beefed up parts, especially on a 90/91 DSM.
This was proven many years back when Buschur attempted to be the first to break into the 10s. He finally gave up and moved to a RWD platform cause he was convinced the stock driveline setup wouldn't hold up.
Not too long afterwards DSMs started going into the 10s with either a lot of money into driveline components or stripped.
Of course now a days Shep and a couple others have it figured out and know how to put Frankenstein trannies together to hold up at least into the 9s but on a stripped car. Still you have to worry about other driveline components blowing up every once in a while.
Weight reduction is the way to go... that's what I'm doing now... I'm married so I don't need to impress the chicks... and I have another daily driver. :afro:

Do you think those Evos, STIs, and DSMs were all running 9's or 10's when the cars first came out? Of course not. They got faster and faster each year as the R&D evolved for each platform. Every platform has to start somewhere. Just because one platform doesn't have as many fast cars as another doesn't mean it's illogical for somebody to try to be different and go fast with it anyway.
So what you're saying is that because there aren't as many fast S4s out there as Evos, Stis, DSMs, etc. that it's not logical to try to go fast in it? Did it ever occur to you that just the opposite might be true... That it might actually give somebody motivation and inspiration to go fast in a car that not too many people are going fast in? Or how about somebody wanting to be different and going fast in something not many people are going fast in? So what if you build a DSM and run 10's in it... There are hundreds of others who have done the same thing! What does that prove? That you can follow all the others and do the same thing they've done? I find it far more rewarding to go 10's in an S4... A car that not too many people expect to be fast.
My car is far from maxed out... With a built motor, bigger turbos, and standalone, I think 9's are doable.

The other cool thing about weight reduction is the more and more you do, the more profound the effect will be. For example, taking 100lbs out of a 2000lb car will have twice the effect that it does as taking that same 100lbs out of a 4000lb car.
Other guys with S4s have broken so much stuff... Transaxles, axles, rear ends, etc. I haven't broken a single thing and I attribute that to the weight reduction + marginal clutch.
What kinda turbo are you running in your Eclipse?

just buy a 03 cobra, and spray it. 11.00s all day...lolI had an 03 Cobra a couple of years ago actually. It ran 11.4@120 on drag radials with just pulley/intake/exhaust/catted x pipe/tune. After grenading two rear ends, one axle, and frying an ECU, I decided to put it back to stock and sold it. I know others have had better luck with them than me, but that was my experience. I also got sick of buying new drag radials for it every month. LOL. Oh and I've yet to see a RWD 6spd/IRS car hook with radials on the street like my car hooks. I'm sure it's possible, but I've just yet to see it personally.

Forced Performance Red, aka 60-1 with a TDO6H turbine wheel and 8cm housing.
Oh and I've yet to see a RWD 6spd/IRS car hook with radials on the street like my car hooks. I'm sure it's possible, but I've just yet to see it personally.

10secS4...I just put on BFG Comp T/A DR's on an 04' GTO the other day and he pretty much dead hooked on the street with them where'as his Stock tires and the First set of Yokohama Advans Still had Wheelhop Issues. And If i'm not Mistaken they have IRS. Are six speeds. And RWD.

Not saying it isn't possible, but from what I've seen, it usually takes an automatic and/or slicks for a RWD car to come out like that on the street.

My white R/T needs a clutch and headgasket right now. Probably gonna go with an el cheapo OEM clutch and a Cometic head gasket... I'm dying to get the thing into the 12's with the stock snail. I think a new head gasket, centerlining the cams, some mild head work, and ditching the balance shafts should net me a 12.6 to 12.8 on a nice cool night. :cool:

It's actually about $12K right now including the cost of the car. I got extremely motivated and sold a ton of **** from it this past spring and summer.
