As a former Maxima owner, nice car! I had a SOHC one, I wish I had that motor :( What happened to your trans?!

From a thread on my maxima forum. The guy that uninstalled it and then him and his friend had a good look at it to see what had happened:

Tilley and I tore it down quick today - that shaft that goes through the differential broke into 3 pieces - and of course the one that started working its way out of the differential housing got stuck against the tranny housing and broke through it in 2 places. Looking at the face of the of the break in the piece of pinion shaft, it suggests a minor flaw in the surface of the shaft that initiated a small crack, and through fatigue it the crack opened up until the torque of driving simply snapped it. From that point, the inertia of the spinning differential pushed it out of the diff and into the housing where it snapped in half again. These kinds of flaws are unavoidable without doing really expensive inspections at the factory, so it falls in the category of 's h i t happens'. Easier driving might have delayed the failure but not prevented it.

I acctually think that the BBK is better then the supercharger thats on the car. Maybe because its new or just because its amazing and the brakes before this were horrible.

You should have plenty of stopping power now! How much did everything run you? Was it pretty easy to put the Z32 calipers on your car?

Total everything ran $472 shipped. I got the barely used off of someone from maxima.org. It was acctually really easy just had to add the relocation bracket to were the old calipers were and then the rest was just like how you would change the brakes.

That's a good deal for all of that. I know the BBK for the B15 run a bit more then that for a kit that uses stock sized rotors and unsealed wilwood calipers.

What size rotors are they?

They are 13 inch cobra rotors (98 Mustang Cobra). Bad new tho kinda need help anyone in WC i hit a pothold and it knocked something loose and now i can move the caliper up and down with my hand. Anyone have a jack and some tools with them. Otherwise i need to head over to pepboys when im done because i dont want to ride home how it is.
