Canon grip question..

I'm looking to purchase a grip for my canon t2i/550D, but the Canon brand grip is 3x's as expensive as the off brands.

Do you canon guys have any experience with off brand grips?
I would still plan on using a second canon battery, just not sure if should spend the money on the canon brand grip or save with the off brand.

I know there are a lot of aftermarket grips out there that claim the same functionality, battery life, fitment, etc. as the OEM ones, but I'm one of those people who would rather just buy 'same name brand' parts as long as it's not a ridiculous price difference for nothing. I bought a Canon one for my XTi and I'll buy another one for my T2i eventually. The off brand ones might have great reviews and work fine, but I want a Canon one.. just 'cuz. lol

As for personal experience with off brands, I have none. There are lots of reviews out there though.

im in the same boat i hate to pay the kind of money for a canon grip but i refuse to go not oem... even the fact of lenses i will only buy canon so my wallet will take the hit

I have the canon grip now but I have had some of the off brands. The off brands work great for the money and the build quality is pretty good too. Just make sure you choose one that has the second shutter button and all that on the grip to make portrait shots easier

I know you're looking for canon advice, but I have experience with Nikon. I have a D300 and a D90, both gripped with off brand grips, and no complaints at all. They fit the cameras great and have yet to fail me.

I ended up picking up a brand new off-brand grip from amazon for $45 bucks (even came with two batteries!) after reading reviews on there. the build quality is surprisingly awesome and it works great.

They had my Canon Brand grip for a really good price.
