Jay's Miata Build

For starters... NOT MY CAR.

My friend jay has his 1991 miata that he got for free after it sat for 4 years, and now he's in the process of breaking and replacing everything. :)

Where he started:

Since then he has done the following:

Replaced the engine due to spun rod bearing - now has about 90k on the motor, nearly 100k on the chassis.

replaced the differential, after that decided to go eff itself...following this

14x6 "Z Racing" wheels he jacked of a junkyard honda at his pop's shop.
as well as some new "euro" tails (UGH I HATE THAT)

And as of yesterday, I finally got him on the right path.... we repainted the wheels a color you can actually see... since black/dark gunmetal wheels look like dog ****.

It's nice to see more Miatas on TST.
Is that wheel eggshell white? Was the driver side fender repainted?

The wheels are actually Krylon Gloss Almond :)

Driver fender was pulled and repainted by him, he cant match colors lol.

He got squeezed off the road on a tight turn, and ended up in a guy wire for a pole. i'd say other than the tweaked subframe it did okay.

all stock, except front drivers fender that we had to bang out and flatten the lip on

The wheels look much better in white.

Eh, that car needed a lot when he started working on it.

Battery
Ignition and trunk lock cylinders with keys
rear finish panel
new rear tail light (busted lenz)
new tires/wheels (bent bald)
clutch was toast in it
top was junked
radio was pewp



A new subframe and trans should be in the works soon.... then well....

then i have to teach him how to PROPERLY style a car, which is NOT with gunmetal 14's, vht nightshades, pepboys fogs, and afro rigged exhaust of 3 different sizes throughout.

But, the wheels going almond was the first step. I'll get him on the right path.

honestly, you'd be surprised. because i'll tell you now the front bumper is spray bombed...

I'd also like to point out, that everything that was painted on the car i've done, ASIDE from the front bumper and driver fender... finish panel came in primer.

Looks like he'll have some new brakes by friday. BrakeMotive drilled/slotted rotors and prostop evolution ceramic pads. front and rear.

Kinda, i gotta break him of his ebay tuning.

thats where he got his 7lb flywheel... which he doesnt realize is far too light if he boosts it the way its planned...
