On a trip with my buddies to Montreal, Canada. The car took us to from A to B, all around the city and such but on the night back, a bearing on the gearshaft in the transmission decided to blow through the bell housing. I rented a u haul and we brought it back home. With no garage to put it in, I asked my buddy to use his garage as he never uses it and he hooked me up for ONE WHOLE YEAR.

I know you guys are thinking 1 year to replace a transmission? Yes it is still not replaced and it has been about 1 year and 3 months because what ended up being a transmission replacement, ended up becoming a proper show quality paint job with me taking my sweet time and either not caring or other priorities took over.

Stripping my car for a complete rebuild (which started October 2009):

I will be painting the car either a matte white pearl (looks glossy and matte depending on the angle like a Mercedes SL65 AMG IWC) or a custom white pearl - I'm on the edge for both colors!

Last reserved space.....

Today I got my tow hook holes drilled and fitted. I started modifying the bumper beam/support to be able to fit the tow hook through it as well as the bumper.

Hosed down the engine bay with some degreaser and prepsol. Dried and used a scuff pad to minimize any rusting on the bare metal.

I cleaned the passenger side. Pushed over to the booth, cleaned and primed it. (Pictures on post number 3)

next I will be shooting the engine bay. Cant get wait to get to the painting part I dont know what color I want to go with :screwy:

I figured today I wasnt going to be able to prime the engine bay. So I finished my front Tow Hook install. This is so I can join you JDM tight peepz but really it is because the stock tow hooks are in such a retarded spot they damage the bumper when being pulled by a winch onto a tow truck and being lowered adds to the mess. I cleaned the engine bay up a bit more. I will really work on the engine bay in the next couple days depending on how busy I am at work. Updates pictures in post number 3.

Nice build...

Nobody expects a contour to be fast.

qbcsvt
02-04-2011, 12:53 PM
^ Its not fast at all.... no traction till like 3rd. Nobody has EVER gotten into the 12's. Im hoping to break that, I will be working with a ex funny and drag car driver (Neighbor) to hopefully come up with some ideas to get under 12's. SLOW!!!!!! But It is nice for those highway runs, a road course and its my first car so Im attached.

Parkedcar on contour.org. He does vinyl emblems. His website is VFXCustom.com

As for an update, This car is still a chassis.... Ive been working on another CSVT instead, Its almost done actually, then I will bring my car over (which I always say.....)

The color on this car is Lexus Smokey Granite Mica. This is before the car was wetsanded and buffed. It looks AMAZING NOW! We need to finish painting lil misc items here and there.

one more quick question. how did u do that grill mesh. or is it a custom grille with the logo to the side

qbcsvt
09-07-2011, 09:37 AM
The grill was a kit purchased during a group buy on the same site. They aren't available anymore. But I'm pretty sure you can find something similar in Home Depot or something like that. The Logo on the side is just a Ford emblem screwed to the side of the mesh. Can put it anywhere you want...

Im working on wetsanding the whole chassis first (there are like 2 dings that I found that will be fixed - this is because this is extremely hard to find when the car is down to the metal). So far the roof, quarter panels, rocker panels, passenger side door jambs have been completely wetsanded. The doors have been partially wet sanded. Tomorrow I hope to do the door jambs and start wet sanding the engine bay. I told the guys at the shop to order the paint for me, but its stupid expensive that I feel like changing the color........ We will see what happens!

qbcsvt

It definitely sucked having to re-sand the car like 3 times due to rust and letting it sit. But in all reality, there was nothing I could do about but pay for it at another shop or wait for my shop to decide to get off their asses and help me. Regardless, finished wet sanding the engine bay, radiator support and driver side door jambs. Ill be going over them again the day I am ready to paint. I also need to go over under the fenders with a scuff pad as I am painting the whole front chassis as well. I will be doing this when I am painting the engine bay and front end.

One pint of 2004 Ford Mystichrome paint ordered today!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plans are to have the engine bay completely painted by this weekend!

Getting the body ready to be painted...... Probably be within the next 2 - 3 weeks since the body shops workload is pretty heavy right now!
