Should I take my Rx8 to the dealer for inspection because of the rotary engine or will any good mechanic be able to handle an inspection. I would just take to to the Mazda dealer but in my past experiences the dealer always cost a little bit more then a regular mechanic

any place should be able to handle any car, having a rotary motor has nothing to do with inspection

just make sure if it is a random mechanic...that they let the car idle for ~5min before moving it. Trust me, you want to avoid ppl flooding your motor.

from my experience of what i've seen and read, never take a rotary to the dealership. they have no clue how to work on them, or around them and will blame that (because its a rotary) the engine is the problem.

only time i would take mine in for service is if it was under warranty!

If they don't know how to work the rotary, then why would they work for Mazda? :bigeek: :screwy:

i can understand rx7's because they aren't in production...and going to a dealership would be a concern.

the other post about the dude's car catching on fire...the dealership reimbursed the person in full for the car's value and all his part's values.

OP, as long as you make sure they let your rx8 warm up before they move it...you are fine.
