new trans in a 95 grand cherokee

I might buy a grand cherokee with 162k for like $900, it needs a new trans. I was wondering if it would be worth it to fix and sell or fix and dd it. Im not framiliar with jeeps so idk what a trans job costs or what it will be worth when its fixed. Wondering if anyones got some info or opinions. and where you can get some cheap trans work lol

I am not really familiar with Grand Cherokees so I'm not sure how helpful this is going to be, but Wrangler's and XJs (Normal Cherokees) aren't that difficult to swap trannys on. The only thing is that any kind of Cherokee has an absolutely terrible resale value. If you're confident doing a job like that on your own, than it could potentially make a nice DD but doing a fix a flip isn't the most profitable thing when it comes to jeeps. Finding the new transmission or a parts truck is pretty easy as there are about one billion cherokees out there.

depends on the model (zj wj) and the motor (4.0 5.2 5.9 4.7) but yea grand cherokees dont hold their values so well. not like wranglers do. but if its a 4.0 zj it will run forever and make a nice DD even at that mileage. at 600 bucks, if you can fix the trans for under 2k, you arent going to lose money on it.

but if i can fix the trans for less i could probably sell it for 2200-3000. or are the chances of fixing the trans for less rediculous? i found the trans cheap on ebay for like 450 ish... are trans swaps on jeeps hard? i have 0 experience with them. I have the tools and the time to fix it

i have a 98 jeep grand the trans costed $80 haha its been in the jeep for a year now, runs like a champ, the jeep has 160k on it
