Hey guys,
I am the owner of a 1998 ford expedition equipped with the Heavy Duty towing package installed. I also have a 1995 Lexus SC400... My question is, what are the towing guidelines and laws here in PA. What do i need to do to make it legal for me to purchase a trailer and tow the SC around? what are things i need to look for and research for towing? This is all new ground for me, the more information you can give me the better. Iv google searched till my fingers heart and there are so many are saying mixed things, Iv looked on the penndot website for towing guidelines and still nothing. Thanks in advice guys

make sure your trailer is registered, all the lights work, all the shields are in place, the car is secure, the trailer is rated for the load and the tow vehicle is rated for the trailer/load

is there a specific law you want confirmation or explanation on?

Well iv been using my friends trailer already for short trips in town, what im concerned about is long, cross-state trips.

my brother was pretty adamant about having to re-register my SUV as a "truck" to increase the weight im able to tow. but that didnt make any sense to me. What iv gathered so far from the DOT website is that your truck has to weight a certain amount in order to haul said amount. Obviously this is kind of common sense, but what i need to know is where i can look up what wieght class i am in. There has to be some kind of website that list all the guidelines and everything. Thank you in advance for taking your time to answer our questions
