I wonder how much the whole process was between parts, labor and shipping? That is unbelievable!

Wow...I skimmed through the build and I was really impressed with what went in, but I thought the exterrior was a little over done... After a minute or so I just fell in love with the overall look of the car... man... I want it

Easy $125k build there. Attention to detail is amazing...exactly what you'd expect from an SP build.

That is amazing and insane. I kinda want to know what this guy went to school for that allowed him to buy parts so quickly.

what is the 7th runner for on the exhaust manifold?

what is the 7th runner for on the exhaust manifold?
I can't see the pics at work, but I'm guessing you're talking about the wastegate...
StreetEG
12-27-2010, 04:54 PM
nope there are 7 runners haha I'm not that stupid...after a bit more research it looks like a quickspool valve, giving one of the turbos 4 runners of exhaust flow until the next turbo kicks in and then it gives the other 4 runners....
both turbos are internally gated

He bought a second Supra half way through because the first one didn't have a 100% straight chassis. The white car became "the test subject". WTF, mad jealous.

the wheels are definitely too small for that car.
the final appearance of the vehicle doesn't look any better than some of the supras i've seen online. but when you consider the amount of detail that went into the vehicle and the fact that just about everything is new on this car is when you appreciate what went into this.
i don't think it was worth it... but then again i don't have an ungodly amount of money to spend and would have chosen a different vehicle

Hopefully the guy actually built the car himself, otherwise I'm not impressed at all.
He sent it over here to the good ol US of A and had MVP motorsports do the work. Like Scapegoat said, big deal. I doubt many of the big money builds like that are done by the owner. Most people aren't capable of building their own motors.

Craftsmanship is awesome, without a doubt. Parts selection is impressive as well. Not too many people would through the hassle of sourcing Ikeya Formula Parts across three countries (three continents as well I believe) for a build.
That being said, the end product looks exactly like every high horsepower show-ish Supra I've ever seen. Perhaps it's a bit cleaner under the hood and under the car, but judging on pure aesthetics, it's just more of the same.

I actually went through all the pages on this build and I must say it's pretty damn impressive. I could care less if he wrenched on it or not. Most of the nicer cars on tristate were built by shops not the owner.

lol at saying this car is like any other show car. he bought two supras so he has a test vehicle and then once finding out the one he was going to drive wasnt straight, used the front clip from that to make it straight. unless he just switched cars at that point. either way, anyone saying this build is unimpressive is a dweeb

Your right but its exactly what he wanted, and he literally replaced everything brand new oem. I have seen many supras but none that have done so much to replace the old parts that most people dont care about.

12-28-2010, 08:47 PM
^ While I understand his perspective on why he bought all new pieces, things like the subframe could have been sand blasted, powdercoated, and had new bushings placed in it and it would have been essentially BRAND NEW... for much much less. Not many people buy a car from the dealer, piece by piece!
Still amazing build. Most people on this forum don't have the skills and those that do, most of THOSE people don't have the tools to do something like this. Amazing work by that shop, truly amazing.
itwillboost
12-28-2010, 10:10 PM
I agree he could have done it much cheaper especially considering he had everything powdercoated anyway. But clearly money isn't that big a deal to him, the cost of moving his car around so much had to be quite a couple thousand alone.

Insane! Longest mod list I've ever seen, ever.
It does make me mad that he had the money to do all of this as well as buy two MINT Supras and tear them both apart. What a jerk lol.
Definitely a ton of work and thought went into it no doubt - you can't deny that!
However, at the end of the day, it'd just be a Supra to me. I'd much rather stroll around in an old Group B rally car; especially if I had that kind of money.
