so, its been about a week since ive sat in (let alone driven) a 12 second vehicle... mines been down for some testing fearing a pooped head gasket.

This really sucks...makes me want to go out and do top speed runs in my moms expedition.... anyone else feel this kinda pain?:o

For the past two years Ive been driving an s14 with a bone stock KA. Then i switched to an automatic Neon. Then the neon blew up on the highway. Now im driving my roommates '92 F-150 with a 4.9L I-6 that makes about nine horsepower and gets about nine miles to the gallon.

Is be stoked for a 15 second car to drive at this point.

RedBowTies88

true that blows but at least its not like you went from DDing something with over 500 horsepower to that... its like how the Amish don't care that they don't have electricity..

or maybe thats just because they're too busy building those cabinet fireplace things?....

HAHAHA If you hadnt said that, I probably wouldve. Thats hilarious.

The fireplace is actually free. You just gotta buy the mantle. (what a friggin DEAL, i bought like 7 of em)

What are you withdrawing, and from where? :P

I know how you feel, I hate not driving anything even remotely quick. None of the other cars I drive are better than 15 or 16 seconds, hehe.

RedBowTies88
12-23-2010, 03:10 PM
little nitrous could probably fix that ;)

My motorcycle is like a 12 second bike. Which is stupid slow for a bike. But its the fastest thing I own.

Little nippy to be out on the bike though.

Yeah, but that motor has enough torque to pull a fat chick out of a golden corral.

So I can rip a house down with it... but itll get outrun by a scooter.:lol:

The shifter has about 8" of play side to side when its in gear, and the steering wheel has a solid 1/4 turn of play. Its like driving the loosest vagina ever.

That'd be awesome! I just assumed it came that way. Its bad. The trucks really not that big of a pile if it werent for that, and the gas mileage.

If it were a truck that was actually worth something, Id try to convince my roommate to put a 4bt in it. But the 4bt would be worth like 8x as much as the truck itself.

Well, my car is sitting in the trailer right now, and I'm driving the bone stock version around every day. Yeah, it BLOWS.

4bt would be sick but you would have to seriously beef up the suspension just to carry the weight then hope you didn't snap driveline parts like a toothpick. I the the 3.0 Nissan diesel would be a safer bet or even one out of an old merc

also btw, to the guy who said that straight six has the torque to blah blah blah. YOU SIR, need to ride in a real truck ;)

no offense

That's why you need a daily that can full fill that need to a minor degree to get ya threw winter. Flipping the switch when it's not freezing out works for me until the other ones up an running again an I can still rock 2 weeks of gas out of her.

I tried that once. Ended up trying to mod the DD. Bad things.

Nope, much better to have a fast car and a slow car. That way you really get to enjoy the fast one.

I do however miss warm days and riding the bike. I only got a few months, I want more!

Why not just have one vehicle that's fast and you can use all year and get kinda decent mileage with?

Kinda decent is where mine sits now "14-28" but my camaro is only gonna average 5-8mpg most likely.

Lol Ken.

And ouch, i get 18-20ish depending on how I drive. Not bad for 500+ horespower awd and comfortably seating 5

However corners are a little iffy...

Sure man. I'd love to get some passes with it, and I trust the bike enough to just beat the **** out of it all day and not worry about it breaking unlike the Civic lol.

Do I need leathers to run at the strip? I have full gear, but it's textile.

you need a snell approved helmet, tether kill switch, and a leather jacket and riding gloves. You'll need leather pants if your bike does 120+mph in the 1/4.. Not sure how quick yours is, mine usually traps between 127-130 (mid 4th)

That sucks you possibly blew the head gasket well time for some studs and other upgrades to support twins a 40% over injectors to get you into the 11's!

RedBowTies88
12-24-2010, 06:33 PM
lol just a new turbo or a hint of spray would get me in the 11's

compression and leak down tests were in conclusive though.... if it is the gasket its not bad enough to really show itself

Chopper17
12-24-2010, 06:37 PM
lol Yea but a clean power upgrade and all the time. Spraying is good until you have to fill up the bottle all the time if you like to use it too much when you can get a constant with bigger injectors and better turbo and use meth injection. Thats good that its possibly not that but if you have the money I say go for the replacement of the stuff thats what Im doing this spring just for good measures because I dont think my stock bolts and gasket with 230k on it will like 70psi out of the twins lol

lol yesir I wish my truck could run 12's with some tuning those dmax guys are lucky!

RedBowTies88
12-24-2010, 09:33 PM
Lol yea your right omgz.

Usually duramax stock head bolts are sting enough to hold back 50+ psi and the heads don't lift till the rods are bent. But some are unlucky. I may be one of those.

Hopefully if not I'll be investing in better turbo. Either a 72 or 75mm

Chopper17
12-25-2010, 03:16 AM
lol heard dat I wish my head bolts would hold more boost....

Im hoping my bottom turbo should be a 78mm or bigger but sadly I still need to tow with this truck this summer so I still need a good tow vehicle till I get more money to buy a dedicated one to tow with so I dont mod it and make this my sled puller.

My GSXR used to be for good weather and the GTO was for bad weather. I was spoiled. Now all I have is a low 12s DD. Julie's HHR SS feels like a dog when I take it for a spin.

Lol smh I have gone from two running cars to shutting one down for winter, than took one apart to work on it. Now I realize it's not worth working on two just enjoy one and do something like audio work to the other.

Helmet and gloves I have, guess I need to invest in some leather gear this year. I'm sure the bike traps close to 120.

thats awesome that your honda traps close to your street bike....

ive beat a couple bikes before.... mostly because they were asleep at the arm-drop or couldn't launch it but they always MPH me at the big end

I can sympathize with you guys.

I went from my 310whp 6spd daily (heated seats, half decent audio, power everything 27 avg mpg, big brakes) - to my beater. 2002 saturn auto. Gets **** for mileage, probably cause it's grossly underpowered, can't stop for ****, no power anything. I can't wait for the snow to go away :(

well i have mine back together and have been driving it for the last few days... still no clear answer on the problem... i may be losing a couple pistons... i need to boroscope it next
