I just picked up a 1991 Honda Accord. Well I just paid for it and I can pick it up on Monday. 180k manual trans. Needs a cv joint, brakes, and a new hood. Purchase price was $200 plus title transfer. I will post pics as I get the car on Monday. Solid body and no major damage anywhere. Overall clean car for its age.
Just wanted any opinions on the 91 accord and ideas for an engine swap and modding it? I had a 89 Accord last year for a few months. Paid the same for that one as I did this one.
Anyone on here have one or worked on one? Looking for ideas.

89 accord is way dif than this one...good thing with accords is they started obd1 in 90 instead of 92. i had one with an h22 and it was fun. ran 14.8 with stock motor just i/h/e. its a simple swap and the h22 is a beast. even if you just get a long block. the stock accord trans axles harness will all work. you will need headers and some other little things....

I am looking forward to digging in on it on Monday and seeing what it has in it and what needs to be done. I know suspension, wheels and brakes, intake, headers, exhaust, and I am stripping down the interior. I am new to the imports thing besides that 89 I had. I have only had domestic trucks and vans so it should be a fun learning project as well.

i had a 91 accord... thing was a great beater. only downside to it was that it was auto
first thing i would do is change all the fluids and check all of the regular maintenance parts (brakes, belts, water pump, plugs/wires, etc). i do know that the transmission doesn't have a filter, but instead has a screen inside of the trans. you need to take the trans off to change this screen. i did it in my car @ 195k miles and it made the trans feel 1000x better
as far as swaps are concerned, the most common swap for these is the prelude h22, but if you're keeping it for a daily driver, i would keep modding to a minimum (use that saved money for the project car)
for some more info you can check out the accord subforum on honda-tech

Its not going to be my DD so all options are available. I know I am going to switch out the engine and trans with something with less miles. I know it needs brakes and cv joint. But besides that it is inspected and runs and drives. Its overall in great shape. Minor body work and a paint job it'll look like new again. Ill check that site out in a little bit man. Thanks.
