My friend's modded Ruckus does 40-43 ish, and hits the (raised) rev limiter at like 47-48 mph downhill. It's still the stock 49cc motor, not a GY6 like most people do, but he has a big carb, variator, clutch, intake, exhaust, CDI, etc. and it makes it a hell of a lot easier to ride on regular roads. It's pretty slow off the start though. My stock Elite CH80 is much quicker from a stop, and will do 45 on flat ground, but a hill slows it down pretty quickly. Flat to slight downhill I can get it to 53-ish and I never hit limiter. On both scooters it's 'wide open' almost all the time, the only time it's not is riding through town going like 25 mph.

Scooters are a different world. lol. It's not really about the speed. I love mine just because it's so damn fun to mess around on. I really couldn't care less how fast I'm going.

Any of the motors from the Chinese 150cc scooters. There's something like 11 brands that produce the identical scooters. There are variations within the 150cc motors (short/long case, etc), but for the most part they're all GY6 motors. They're a cheap, easy way to go from a 49cc motor to a 150cc and get at least 60mph+ on a Ruckus. You can buy an entire donor scooter and use other parts like the disc brakes too. Big bore kit and you can get a 180cc+ Ruckus pretty easily.

All you need is a valid drivers license... Anything under 49cc's you don't need a motorcycle permit for... 45mph speed limit areas only. No highways
