It's a high mile car, and it will be a project. So off the bat I am going to clean her up, get the dent, mirror, and scratched fixed. Full TLC maintenance, and I will drive it now and then.

Going to pull the motor and trans in the spring.
Full trans rebuild (a company specializes in this new bearings, syncros, forks, pads, seals) $2K
97+ flywheel and Spec stage 3+ba $1,500
Forged 9.5:1 pistons, Billet main caps, ARP head studs, main studs, rod bolts, timing belt, water pump, gasket set, bearings, Valve springs, retainers, bases, loss motion kit, locking tensioner, Valves $4500
Machining, blue print, assy $2000-2500

Then GT35R, Piping,BOV, WG, Injectors, intercooler, oil cooler, Stand alone and countless little things.

It's an opportunity to own a F1 inspired quazi supercar. It needs it's TLC, but I can do that and make it awesome. How many NSX's do you see, not many because they made less than 9,000 of them worldwide. Any how many of them do you need built and boosted?

Didn't they make a NSX-T there use to be a guy in dolyestown with 2 turbo ones an a regular one that he'd DD. There sweet cars was looking for one my self before I had my Z.

OutToWinPAHC
11-20-2010, 02:26 PM
NSX-T Is the Targa top. None were boosted from Honda. They use the 290hp C30A (3.0, Dual overhead cam, vtec, aluminum block, full balanced rotating assy, titanium connecting rods), and the 310hp C32B (3.2L, Full balanced, dual overhead cam, vtec, also full balanced and titanium rods) in the later models

i like how people always say, blueprinted, when getting a motor built...

as if you were going to roll dice to figure out measurements or plan sizes...

If you're gonna rip the engine down anyway, why not install aftermarket cams, crank, and rods? Unless it's a money thing...

-Jesse

There used to be a black turbo one that rolled around this area a few years back. I haven't seen it in awhile tho.

The factory rods are titanium, and very light. This is what makes the car have the ability to rev so high.

As for cams, well I was checking out the grind specs and the forced induction cams are very similar in duration to the stock cams. So to me that 1900 for a set of cams is not worth spending.

wouldn't be suprised to see it cost over $20k in the end to turbo one of these if you're doing it the right way

Bates
11-21-2010, 01:08 PM
So you traded the 240 straight up for it?

OutToWinPAHC
11-21-2010, 01:13 PM
Sure if you were paying someone to do it with an off the shelf kit. I plan about 12-13K over time. What I'll do is get the car cleaned up and maintained. Order the internal parts, order the turbo parts. Save up a little, then pull the motor and trans. Send the trans down south for work, and have the motor built and assembled. Then take my time putting her together. Now I wont be able to mock up the turbo and piping.... Reason is I cant weld aluminum and all the hangers need to be tigged on. Overall they can be pricey cars, but after doing homework it's not too bad.

Trans 2K
Clutch 1.5K
Engine Parts 3.5K
Machining 2.5K
Turbo/parts and management 2.5
Tuning / Welding 1K

11-21-2010, 01:14 PM
So you traded the 240 straight up for it?

No.... I get cash, get the NSX, keep my Bride seats, keep my Volk Wheels, Keep some gauges and other items.

Nice, should be sweet and nice to own something so uncommon.
Is 9.5:1 compression really ideal for a big turbo setup? What kind of boost are you looking to run, and on what octane?

OutToWinPAHC
11-21-2010, 03:24 PM
Ideally 12-18psi, 93 octane. 9.5 is what alot of the boosted guys use with these. I can order pistons 9:1 to 12:1

DPancoast
11-21-2010, 04:57 PM
if you ever want to sell your stock wheels, I want dibs lol

Honduh

Is 9.5:1 compression really ideal for a big turbo setup?

9.5 should be a great compression ratio. Compression = spool = power band. But I'm sure you know this already, Bryan.

If I could redo my block I'd bump my compression up from the 9.0:1 that I have now.

TROLL
11-21-2010, 05:17 PM
Ok, I was just wondering, I knew you'd have done your homework on it. Just didn't know how much boost you'd be able to run on pump gas with that compression, but it sounds like a well rounded plan. What kind of power range will you be at?

Can't wait to see this, never really followed an nsx build since most are either way over-the-top or some ricer with a big wallet. Back to what you were saying with the cams, I'm sure you'll be fine since I've seen b-series motors have nice gains with itr cams over "turbo" cams

Guys checking schedule, and going to secure a trailer. It's a 10 ride each way. Hoping next weekend I'll have my NSX. I have some cash burning a hole, enough to cover all the parts for the motor and clutch. Income tax will cover trans, and boost parts.
