RBtony 2011 Build Thread: New rad support set up

Ok so its been awhile since i was on here so i thought i would update you guys on some things that are going on...As most of you know my season ended a little early this year due to my head gasket popping and then instead of me fixing it and coming back out i decided to rebuild the whole car...was it dumb yes...do i regret ending early this year no...Since the the car has been off the track the chassis has just been sitting not being touched..sold the S14 SR and decided to take a break for a month or two and clear my head...about a month ago i rented out a 2 car garage to rebuild the whole car over the weeked...and so it started...

First thing on the list of things to do was to get a new motor..as much as i liked my old sr i had to come back to rbs....so thats what i did..

So ladies and gentleman i present you with the RB25DET series 2 that i will be running with next year:

Got it back to the shop and immediatly started to tear it down, clean it up and paint it....upon tearing it down i realized that the whole inside of the coolant passages where rusted from sitting for so long...no biggie..cleaned it out and it was ready for paint:

After a couple hours and a couple cans of high temp spray paint she was like new again:

This is all i have got done so far as i am waiting for alot of motor parts to come in...Once i finish up a friends car that is in the shop i will be able to bring my car in and give you guys more updates on the chassis...this was the last i remember of my car:

So far plans for motor are:
-Powder coated valve covers (gloss black)
-RB26 clear cam cover
-Isis intake manifold
-770cc RC injectors
-Q45 throttle body
-Turbo is being sent out to a company to get rebuilt with bigger internals
-Mid Mount intercooler set up
-Tial BOV
-Greddy Timing Belt
-N1 oil pump
-N1 water pump
-Nismo thermostat
-Full gasket set
-Full Tune

Theres some other things im still undecided on.

As far a chassis:
-Full engine bay wire tuck
-Full interior wire tuck
-Front tubs getting redone
-Door bars and being lowered
-Rear quarter panels cut and re welded
-Cage is getting gusseted
-Fire Supression system
-PBM Hydro
-30mm rear overs
-30mm front overs
-Gentlmans Body kit
-S13 front end
-Paint inside and out

Suspension:
-PBM full suspension arm set
-New wheels

This isnt even part of my list, this is a sum up but i will keep you guys updated more as i get my chassis to my garage..

totally off topic but this is my friend matts shell that we destroyed since he crashed it into a crub and destroyed the front end....so we pretty much laid the whole car on the floor and stuck a wheel in there to see how low it was...i think domo approves haha

so a little update on what ive been doing since none of my parts have come in and there is no room left to bring my car into the shop...

First my good friend angelo bought my old sr and here it is sitting next to my rb lol at least my old faithfull motor is still in the family...i tore it down with him to get a few new additions done to it...He should have a build thread on his 2011 track car build up soon:

Ok now here is the reason why i havent touched my car yet. This is my friend Matts car that i have been working on for the last week. Its a 91 hatch with a silvia front end and a s13 sr...this car will be a 100 percent track only car..i have about another couple days of work and then this car is ready for paint and body work..maybe ill get some pics and make a build thread for this car:

Nice project. What are you doing in regards to the oiling "issues" aside from the N1 pump? Are going to add an extra drain from the head to the pan? Blocking one of the oil gallery feeds?

no need for me to do it now with such a stock set up...i will end up running a oil return line from the back of the head back to the oil pan when i do my 35r set up next year

ok so i got alot done today..not everything i planed on just cause im way to tired...

so today i started taking out all the windows in the car...every window came out good excpet the passenger quarter window..it broke upon removal..as i was taking the windows out i could see that there is alot of parts on my cage that need to get re welded or redone.

so when the windows were out i noticed surface rust building up where the windows once were so i cleaned up all the glue and got rid of most the surface rust:

There is still alot i need to do..my shop is a mess, theres glass everywhere, parts everywhere...so tomorrow i will be cleaning up everything and moving forward with some things so ill keep you guys posted..

just bumping this thread cause im bored...no progress yet..i have been moving into my apartment so i havent had anytime to work on my car..but that will change next week

ok so for the past few weeks i have been really busy with my apartment and trying to find another job and so on and so forth also lost a little focus on working on my car....but finally got my motivation to work on my car again..alot of things got done in the last week..

so i was a little iffy running this motor i got from engine depot due to the problems i ran into with them in the past. So i took the head off to check and make sure everything was in working order:

so after making sure that everything was ok i got back to work with the chassis. First thing on the list was to finish clearing out everything including the pedals:

Next was to figure out a way to get my sunroof out with the cage in, nothing a little persuasion and a grinder couldn't handle:

ok so some of you might remember this car from 2009..this car was really good to me for the season and i was an idiot and got rid of it for a coupe...long story short i got this car back for this season with some added extras like new kit, front and rear overs, new wheels, new motor lol, cage, tubs and some other little surprises. I pretty much took a lot of things from my coupe and swapped it over to this car including my rb25.

I feel like that motor needs to be in here because the car once upon a time had my old rb20 then 1jz then s14 sr and now my rb25. Yes shes a whore but i love her. Now some of you are people going to say why don't i keep the coupe? Good question well the answer is that i pick up this car from my fab guy on Sunday and then drop my old coupe off to get some things fixed. Now instead of waiting a month for the car to come back and i don't get anything done, i can now finish this car a lot faster. Seems like the most logical reason for me to do it since the drift season is coming up really fast. More pics will be up tomorrow of the new set up..

so finally got the car back from fab and it came out a better than i thought..i know im going to get alot of criticism on this new setup but i like it and the best part is that it was all free :}

There is alot more detail with the car that i will go over once i get more pics. As of right now the car is going to get prepped for paint, then as soon as my headstuds and gasket kit comes in i will re assemble the motor and throw it in the car again...its look good so far..

i will have more pictures of what it looks like now tomorrow...the gussets were removed and i started to stitch weld the bay along with cleaning everything up that the fab guy messed up...

Hey Tony, I would brace those strut towers alot more. When he did the tubs he cut out factory metal that runs up from the frame rail to the strut mount. That metal is double wall and is grooved from the factory for added strength.....

ok so today i was trying to fix the stock rad support but it was to mangled up to fix so i said **** it and i just made a new one...it actually works out better cause now i can make some extra brackets for my intercooler and my rad
