Get yourself a Bentley manual
You peel off the boot from the frame
Cut the clamp to remove gear level knob from gear lever
Carefully pry retaining sleeves with small screwdriver (at the two notches) while pulling the knob out.
Might be able to use a Momo boot (make sure the knob has a screw-in base). Put loctite on the set screws thread (so it does not vibrate out)

dont know if you still need help with it but I had my momo 'king' (the solid ball of alum) on my last car without an aftermarket boot. The trick, as bad as it sounds, is getting the boot exactly where you want it then smothering it in electrical tape. But for $35 you can get a boot that will screw right into the threads and be perfect.

if you are careful, you can actually pull the stock boot, with the ring still inside, over the base of a momo knob. It is a tight enough fit that the boot will not loosen itself. But you have to be careful not to crack the ring inside.
