I called the machine shop I always use and spoke to them about doing some work and they gave me a crazy price...... like no effing way price.

Anyhow I bought a new complete Gen 3 chevy small block (LS motor). Motor has uber low miles 17K, but this one is an iron block. And from sitting in the elements its nasty (rusty on the exterior) and should be cleaned the right way for the outside to be painted and to ensure the galleys are clear.

So I'm thinking if I am pulling the bottom end for cleaning I am going to just go with forged rod, forged piston, new main bearing, and cam bearing. The motor does not need to be bored out because it is just fine with low miles.

So drop off a V8 block with main caps and bolt with cam, cam bearings, main bearings, rods, pistons, main pulley and front, and valley covers.

Have engine, and covers cleaned and hot tanked.
Assemble bottom end, cam, and timing chain, install front, rear, and valley covers and wrap it up.

So that being said, how much should this run me?

call chase machine (probably listed under chase auto parts) in fox chase. ive been using them for years. cheap labor and they are fast and do great work. i only had to take one thing back, but that was my own fault cause the customer didnt want to spend money to do the job right.
