Well Im bored and thought to make one of these post...So i will start why/how i got the lexus

Ok So i had own a stock civic 97 lx 4door since i was 15 with 73xxx miles (Type-[R]icer) . I was little lol so I was into buying Body kits,wing,rims and just a "Loud muffler".. So i did lol and thats where my ricing started. I was on being made fun of left and right by tuners and such than i started to make fun of myself :cry: Friends loved it though, I thought it was pretty clean .. here is the pic just to see..(In order by date)

So i got tired of being made fun of , tired of the loud muffler that lead me to no where and tired of my car going no where with a lot of people lol..

So than July 2010 I sold the car (93,xxx) to get a Lexus is300.. I was going to buy one in NY Stock black with 73,xxx miles, than waited a week and found one the one i always wanted. Found a white with some mods with 71,xxx miles.

I love intakes for some reason i had a HPS intake waiting at home so As soon as i went home i put that in lol..

Plans are getting two duraflex fenders just because its cheaper to get two aftermarkets than one stock. Also couldnt get a white one near by so hence "Penguin Look" just because me and my gf fav. animal is penguin =D. Getting a door and boosting in sometime in the winter..=/

Hit and runs suck though, did you name your own price on car insurance though? Those Geico commercials warned me about this!

PS when you fix it don't get Z3 fenders!

Thanks =] !! I got the cheapest because of my recent accident so i was basically S.O.L but no not z3 lol im just getting something simple not to much.. lol

I kind of like the TL-S but i see those a lot and Im the type of person who would get cars you barely see on the road...well in my area theres only 2 or 3 is300...But yeah =D

1. Get better insurance
2. Stop parking at that corner:wink:

Other wise looks to be in good shape, take your time when choosing parts for the car. Research and if you have to save to get a better piece vs spending money on cheap **** and saving a few bucks in the short run do it. You'll save yourself a lot of heart ache in the long run.

Im planning to install the turbo with my friend is there any heads up? or like warnings? Or even a little instruction cant seem to find a good one.

Boosting an IS300 isnt a walk in the park. Make sure you do alot of research. Idk if your a member on my.is, or isfanatics. but they have alot of info that could help you. if you have any questions i dont mind helping you out. But dont think you will be able to boost it for a cheap price. Boost is very expensive. I say if your going to do it make sure you do it right at the begining if not it will bite you in the ass in the end. but once its all done. the is300 is def a awesome car boosted. Wish they would of came boosted from factory :( good luck and hit me up if you need any help or have any quetions.

Oh man I can't even begin to tell you how bad an idea that is! Boost is something that should only be done after VERY careful consideration. I think it's borderline stupid to even think about doing it yourself unless the vehicle isn't your daily driver. When you say your friend.... 'installs a lot of turbos', what exactly do you mean? Is he a mechanic? I've met a metric ton of people that are backyard mechanics and unless he is very meticulous your project can and will take much longer and will be SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive.

Just to reiterate, I think it's a terrible idea. If I recall the stock internals are not very strong on the IS300s, you will probably need fueling upgrades...forget it I'm not going to make a list out. Good luck!

The ge internals are pretty durable and can hold up to 350hp. some ppl even pushed the limits and went over 400. im running gte internals so i have no worries. your def going to need to some type of fuel management. im running 550cc injectors so i have plenty of room for fuel. just lmk if you have any questions and ill be able to help you out or point you in the right direction. also try search on my.is and do some research on boostin the is300.

I meant my friend installed kits on e36 siliva He has a shop but he told me he did one or two ,I just want things smooth thats all.Also TJ and other people im doing my research I have the kit for almost a week now and I want to sit on it and research before my engine go BOOM or w.e else =D

whats wrong with asking pros and cons im talking about is it a good idea to boost this car since its my daily and such. Im not talking about installing stuff. Yeah I did ask for a manual but since its my daily and i do go to school every day i cant wait for a week. I've repaired my car countless times from being at the track and just driving it on the street. Once your kit is installed just make sure the person tuning your car is very knowledgeable about your setup and your choice of fuel management. Tuning is everything in the boosting world.

Well Being that the IS is what I'm to belive in, a rwd car; this is going to make snow a problem, with or without boost. Now don't get me wrong, you can not spool the turbo for the most part, which will keep power down and you won't worry too much about all the added tq from the turbo. But i would suggest you just collect a bunch of parts, do a bunch of learning, and talk to some people with some boosted cars that they did themselvs, and ask them if they can help you, or give you insight on this whole situation. They will be able to tell you more then I cna, being that I do not DD a boosted car. I've only built a few and drove on occasion.

If you want 400+ Hp pick up a 2jz-gte. I am building one to swap into my 240, pieced it together, and have almost 700.00 into it so far, with the majority of it completed. Go onto clubna-t.com, supraforums.com, and my favorite other then sf, is myjzswap.com Sean, and Rodney know a ton about the 2jz, and could help you out huge. I also have a machine shop, and can help you out with any questions you may have as well.. GL, boosting is more of a science then just installing parts, but like everyone keeps saying, if you do your homework, youll be fine..

I don't want to fix the fender ( I think it adds personality ) until i boost than paint the car and before i paint the car I get new fender =D.



Another motor? You mean you read my post about pros/cons installing it myself and a friend? not to be rude myself but i wrote that im taking the turbo to a professional shop to install it and tune it not my friends.

Im not jumping into fixing or boosting or painting because im just a freshmen in college so School is first D=

Boosting is not a joke it will bite you in the ass. I did it to my daily and I really hated not having a car for days and weeks at a time for this and that breaking.

Do it at a shop unless you dont mind learnin and taking the bus/train :) If your mechanically inclined, try it yourself. That's what I did over the course of a month and it worked out. I even drove from NJ to LA on a basic tune to get a better tune :eek:
